Air Purifiers - Which to Buy?

I'm in need of an air purifier due to poor quality air in my house from a construction site next door and hayfever.

So far Ive realised theres a new HEPA standard.. HEPA13 aka True Hepa,
Need to consider the room sizing,
Cost
Wattage as key factors.
Leaning towards Xiaomi 3H which is cheapest at Catch (AU version).

Does anyone have any experience or comments on this?

The two areas id use this are probably
A. 3 x 3
B. 4 x 5

  • I recently got the pro version from a recent sale, hoping it would relieve my hay fever symptoms. Well it didn’t. I don’t know if it’ll help you. I hope later on, bush fire smoke will leak through my windows so I can get better use out of it.

    • Do you notice less dust in the room at least.

    • so you are hoping for bush fires to wreak havoc so you can justify your air purifier purchase? priorities

  • Just not the Xiaomi Pro that ships without the Hepa filter. We have the 3H and I have been impressed with it. My sons asthma has improved with this running by his bed overnight.

You can retrofit a Hepa filter to the Pro though.

  • Nice! Thats good to hear abput your sons asthma! Seems positive the 3H.

We have three x 3H in the house and they work great.

Also their sensors are good for providing data to out Home Assistant which runs various automations. EG turning on AC when its too hot or cold in various rooms automatically.

    • Wah?! How do you do that?

      • Which part?

        • Using the 3H sensors readings to turn on a/c

          TIA

@John Kimble: We have Home Assistant set up. We have an integration for Xiaomi which shares its data with our local home assistant. Then we have a Mitsubishi Ducted system also run through home assistant. Then set up rules whereby if a sensor detects a temperature, it either turns on AC or heating.

What is HEPA and why do i need it haha

    • It’s a replaceable air filter which is quite cheap to replace.

I bought the Xiaomi 3H after researching all of them. The InovaAir seems to be best on market but very expensive (although very long life filter) and Winix seem very good. For the price, the 3H has performed really well. I also suffer from asthma and allergies and it's really helped, especially at night. Choice.com.au gives it a great rating too.

    • Nice! Thanks 😊

We got one of those. Been using since tail end of bush fire season to get rid of the smell and dust indoor. Been good. Noticed less dust on surface around house. Doesn't use much power. Quiet most of the time.

    Yearly filter replacement cost reasonable.

Available cheaper elsewhere. We got ours from Kogan while on special.

    • A bit pricey for me!

As an added bonus, (my daughter) just discovered the 3H can juggle four small balloons on max setting. 😂

    • 😂😂 Will keep in mind

  • recently got 2 MI from Kogan for $99 each

Purchased it. Best purchase I ever did.

Interestingly enough Mobile Citis slightly more expensive version is still the global edition but valid for AU official distributor warranty.

AND was delivered next day (in vic!!!)

I have had the 3H for a about 4 months now and have been very very happy with it. Recently opened it up and took a look at the filter - covered in dust/lint/hair (I have 2 cats) so it's doing something right. There's something comforting about the sensor, knowing its reducing minute particles in the air. I run mine basically 24/7 moving it from my bedroom to the living room each day. I paid $250 for mine and have seen it for <$200 recently - a great buy IMO.

Yup! Can confirm my sleep has improved significantly!

  • Finally had to change the filter on our 3H. Fully coated in fluff. Kind of like a tumble dryer or aircon split system filter fluff. Ouf 3H is in a carpeted room so makes sense. I will be buying more units for the rest of the house.

    • Yeah I bought one too. Such a game changer!
