Budget Cookware Set?

Hi guys, can anyone recommend me a decent budget cookware set for 300 or less? Just for a small apartment. Thanks

I've been through circulon, anolon, tefal, etc non stick stuff. I've gone to cast iron now. Tiny bit harder to take care of, much better cooking (less likely to burn stuff, better sear).

I'd recommend lodge cast iron when it goes on sale at Amazon.

a 12" (i like the one with 2 little handles), the 5 quart dutch oven with an 8" lid, and a couple smaller skillets. They sometimes come down to $30-50 per piece.

I don't have a specific recommendation but I will suggest you just buy what you actually need. If you buy a set you'll likely end up not using, or rarely using, one or two pieces. If you just buy what you need you can buy higher quality that should last a lifetime and build upon it as your needs grow.

  • Visit your local universities about a week after graduation. The dorms will have a huge pile of mismatched, dented, and often vintage or even antique cookware that you can assemble a set out of. There will also be another pile of very large canvases next to the dumpster, from art student final projects that were too big to take back home interstate/overseas with them.
