Where to get access to free/cheap memberships to get discounted Woolworths, Coles and other gift cards?

Can anyone please advise where I can get a free membership (preferably) or discounted access to memberships that allow members to purchase discounted woolworths or coles or other stores gift cards (ie 5% to 10% off and post out for free)?

  • Entertainment books get 5% off Coles gift cards. I think it has free regular post. (didn't get a book this year as i'll be travelling soon.) http://www.entertainmentbook.com.au/home.aspx The books are worth it (approx $65) if you go out a bit and can use the 2-for-1 vouchers and deals - and assuming you are in a city that has a book! If you know anyone who has one, you could probably get them to buy for you. (you buy the Coles cards online from Entertainment book website)

    • Thankyou danyool I hant seen the book but was told about the onlibne version which is about $79, didnt know if anyone knew of any freeboes at all :)

  • I too am searching for the same thing, this is what I've found so far.

Most types of CGU insurance products come with a CGU Presidential card, it gives you free member access to the 5% discount on Coles and Wish cards through Shoppers Advantage. Up until my last quote CGU were the cheapest for my car insurance, sadly my intermediary changed insurance providers and going direct with CGU was a lot more expensive. Last time I looked the annual fee for Shoppers Advantage was $49.

If you have greenslip renewal coming up you can have a look at http://valuerewardscard.com.au/get_a_value_rewards.html If you renew your greenslip with value greenslips, you can join the linked site for $29.50. I think the cost of greenslips is fixed based on suburb, so it shouldn't cost anything extra.

http://www.toptouristparks.com.au/membership/join-club you can get 2 years platinum membership for $70, that gives you the presidential card, same as CGU.

Lastly I when I was searching once before I came across a group of working men's or leagues clubs in Victoria that had the presidential card included in their membership. Unfortuately to join you had to get your id verified at the club, so no good if you weren't local. I can't find what chain of clubs it was now though but maybe a Victorian reading this will know.

    • Thankyou twinbag, unfortunately I dont have any insurances with CGU and wont need to look again for another 10 months, but I had a look at the valuerewardscard website, seems alright, but there is a disclaimer to say if you dont have a policy they will refund the cost..

Shoppers Advantage - is that shoppersadvantage.com.au? I had a quick look and didnt see any vouchers, maybe wrong site? but they are promnoting presidential card there so must be affiliated?

I did get info from Panthers last year to say they are affiliated with some discount group, but there is nothing visible around their website, and if I recall when I looked last year you still had to pay postage of $3 or similar so save $5 buying through them then min $ for postage, so not a real overall saving unfortunately.

  • +1

Jigocity is selling a 60% membership to Kare Kard, similar to the above, $20. You can get the usual 5% off of Coles/Woolworths etc. Personally, I buy mine from eBay as I can often get slightly better than 5% off.

    • Thankyou neil for the info for jogocity and for your experience through ebay, do you have any preferred stores there at all?

      • Nope, just randoms. Best purchases are ones where people have gotten gift cards as rewards from work, so they are not too fussed with how much they get for it. Beware though, a good number of gift card auctions are fraudulent (you pay, they never send). Fortunately, Paypal refunds you but still a pain.

        • Yeah I figured there would be dodgy ones as it is basically cash.. I did do a look not alot about and the porices are close to the face value, so I will keep looking and find keep reading the jogocity to find out if free posr, got any coverage if they are not recived etc

  • In the past I have been able to purchase gift cards at coles using gift cards, ie buy the coles gift card from my usual sources then swap it for a coles and myer group or coles express card.

Went there today, apparently its store policy to not allow it anymore :-( Going to have to try again tomorrow and find a staff member that isn't aware of the policy, going to be a pain.

    • That sounds alright if you can get smaller ones with the big one muzzamo as some are specific denominations! Didnt think it would matter too much as the money is still being spent in their group somewhere!

As a matter of interest do you have specific sources such as with memberships you purchase from?

  • Zizzle is currently offering Presidential Card for $9 annual membership. You can buy Coles gift cards for 5% discount. Delivery is reported to be 2-4 weeks.

Just checked, and NRMA membership also gives access to discount gift cards and I think you get free Presidential Club membership, as well.

  • cardlimbo.com.au have a range of discounted cards

    • Found the other day they were mirror listing their gift cards on eBay and removing them from eBay upon sale on Cardlimbo. Noticed starthere/moneybackco gives up to 4.37% back. Bought a Coles card for 3% but waiting to see if the additional starthere credit will work.

      • Hi Neil,
Did you get the cash rebate from starthere? TA

        • Nope. Didn't get anything. Someone was saying on another thread that they had to chase it down to get the credit.
