Drug Dealer in My Unit Complex

There is a drug dealer(s) in my free standing unit complex.

My unit faces the road.

For hours at a time, they will sit in their parked car at the front of street. Sometimes up to 5 hours sometimes loudly on the phone.

I sometimes see other cars come, park, someone walk out and sit in the back sit with a bag and get back out and go drive off in his car.

Because my front yard is exposed and no fence, I don’t feel comfortable.

Do I just ignore it or should I be looking at adding some security measures?

You can call 131 444 to report some non-urgent crime and events anytime, anywhere 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

That sure is one dumb drug dealer.

    • +1

      ^low hanging fruit

    • Or confident the police won't do anything as long as he's covid-safe

  • +2

Mount a couple of security cams (or mock cams) pointing into the street, might encourage the guy to move on.

    • I don't think they would even notice or care, given their behaviour already.

  • You could at least sent them a Pizza…
Put the Number Plate in the Order Comments with deliver to the

    • -4

Generally if you mind your business they mind theirs- they don't want a confrontation etc to attract attention. I wouldnt put any cameras or anything- thats just asking for trouble.

  • +2

Request address please. What does he deal?

  • Hook us with them please. We need some entertainment…..

    Move to a better area.

    • +1

You think there is any 'area', particularly in a modern city, that doesn't have local drug dealer(s)?…

      • LoL…no not at all…enjoy living with druggies :)

      • +1

        drug dealer(s)

        Food chain:

        Drug producers
        Drug importers
        Drug dealers
        Drug pushers
        Drug users
        Drug junkies

"Better areas" have drug importers (smugglers, really) = Humongous houses, luxury cars, wealth pouring out.
"Worst areas" have drug junkies = Homeless, ruined lives.
        Your pick.

Call it in and the next thing you know is a bullet through the window.

  • So running a business from his Car, do you reckon he receives Jobkeeper…

Tony Abbott and Joe Hockey would be proud. This guy is a lifter, not a leaner!

  • A Current Affair!

I actually don’t care about the drug part, I’m more annoyed with their loud talking in the car. Like if they live down 50 meters, they can peddle as much meth as they want.

    • +1

Step 1. Buy underwear, cos bamboo.
Step 2. Get some pictures of a tough looking bikie looking bloke.
Step 3. Approach dealer as friend nd explain since he is out front a lot can he keep an eye out for bikie looking fella and let you know if he comes around as he is part of some big drug gang.
Step 4. Have bikie looking guy drive past a few times.
Step 5. Make your own plan it should be better than this one but at least you have bamboo underwear.

      • Step 6. Ask him for some free samples.
Step 7. Advertise on Dark Web
        Step 8. Profit!

        <just kidding - I don't condone drugs of dependence>

        • What about drugs of independence?

    Get some fkn ear plugs

Sometimes it’s not the Dealer who is the biggest worry it’s those they attract. Ring the cops, tell them they are regularly there. Let the law deal with it.

    • +4

Let the law deal with it.

      Nice pun

    • +1

      Ring the cops

The cops are too busy going after covidiots not wearing masks or exercising by riding their bikes in the same area.
They may no longer realise if a real criminal bit them in the arse.

      • … except if the arse-biter in question was not wearing a mask at the time .

    • +1

Agreed, cops gotta do their job, maybe contact your elected reps, council, state and federal to see if they can motivate the ‘busy’ plods to assist, after all you just want them gone from your neighbourhood, don’t send them my way though, please!

  • The closest thing that I have is a drug user in my complex. But I would never call the cops on myself! LOL

  • Probably ignore it tbh if you can. You also wouldn’t be the only person who has noticed this. Coopers don’t go after low hanging fruit though, the literal peddlers unless they are a significant issue, even then it’s a ‘(profanity) off’

  • Find some cocaine and sell it at a lower price. In 4-6 months your neighbour won't be able to afford rent and he'll move.

  • I live within earshot and eyeshot of a local dealer. The problems start when they get police raids at 4am. Then there are the drive-by shootings, including one time a car stopped outside and a number of guys got out with automatic weapons and peppered the house.

Inner city? Slum? No. Respectable, quiet family middle class suburb. You just never know…

  • Sounds like a convenient location to live.

  • +1

Simple. Call the cops. Middle of the night is better but any time. Keep making random complaints until the d!ckhead gets the idea and moves on or stops dealing.

Arseholes like that are the scourge of society, preying on a disease.

  • My best mate has 2 dealers in his street (Penrith).

He's in regular contact with the police and his local member. It helps a bit but not much.

The problem is that it attracts bad people that have a different value set to honest citizens. Certainly the crime rates in the area increase.

If you make your displeasure obvious you are likely to get harrased.

  • And rather than report to Crime Stoppers, or your Local Police, you thought to rant off here on OzBargain.
You are best to report. You can do this via the Police Web-Portal…. all anonymously.

  • I’ve had a lot of experience with this in my business life. Trust me you are better off without them. They attract vermin and put everybody and their property in the vicinity at risk. Forget all the “leave them alone and they will leave you alone” crap. This is not some Hollywood movie. Get rid of them at all costs. Use Crime stoppers, call the police, whatever it takes but keep yourself safe first and keep your mouth shut about what you do. Your safety comes first. This is a criminal activity and it attracts many dodgy people to your home. The more they get away with the worse it may get and dogs attract fleas. They will find somewhere else to do what they do.

    • This is a criminal activity and

I think it has to be identified as a such first.

I see a lot of people "interviewing" others at (usually open air) coffee shops and similar.
Nothing illegal, just cheap "entrepreneurs" without an office or the money to rent a serviced office for a day or two.

  • Take up drugs. Simple.

For hours at a time, they will sit in their parked car at the front of street. Sometimes up to 5 hours sometimes loudly on the phone.

    Oh dear!
    Do you really monitor this?
    For hours?
    5 hours?

Any chance of talking to her/him/them? It might clear your worries.

    • Do you really monitor this?

Could be noticed them there at 12pm, then still saw them later at 5pm

  • pro tip tell police went there hot if cop care they bust him other let him go about his day I lived in public house for 9 year i can drug deal was every day to deal with. they will not give any problem they want no problem from you.
