There were heaps on sale a month or so ago.

Looking for a 7 set global knife set around the $250 mark.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

  • Im in the same situation. I own a 7 piece Ikasu set, but am looking for a set for my in laws. No good deals at the moment. The Ikasu set is currently around $330 and worth it IMHO, however because I had purchased mine for around $290, I feel like I wouldnt want to spend more than that.
Costco recently had the Millenium set on sale for $269.98, but when I compared it to the Ikasu set, they were all shorter knives. I dont even use the 2 shortest in my Ikasu set, so I certainly wouldnt recommend the Costco deal either.

  • Why do you need a 7 knife set?

    Paring knife
    Chefs knife
    Bread knife

    Cleaver

  • Coles new MasterChef knife promotion looks like a solid set.

    • $20 = 1 credit. You need min 20 credits to get to one knife.

So you're looking at spending close to $1600 for 4 knives.. Probably more

Nice if you would spend that much anyways.. Else ikasu seems like a good price at $314 (https://m.petersofkensington.com.au/Product/Detail/global-ik…)

      • This was the cheapest I could find to. Will hold out for another ebay sale.

      • Yeah but if your shopping anyway

    • MasterChef knives are cheap stainless steel

  • Ikasu was for $251.2 (less cash rewards or shop back) on the 23th…8pm deal from eBay plus.

Keep an eye for another 15% to 20% deal

  • I like the Hiro or Synergy is the same just a different block. No idea how cheap it actually gets.. but I do think as long as you use half of the knives in a set, you get better value buying them that way, plus you have somewhere to keep them.

I'd never use the short Cook's knife but use all the others multiple times per week. I prefer the utility to a pairing knife and like the feel of Global Chef's series rather than the Cook's. Much better handle/bolster but you can't get those in sets AFAIK.
