Minoxidil Usage and Chemist Warehouse Website Reviews

Hi everyone,

My hair is thinning and I want to try minoxidil before I go bald.
I have seen some videos on YouTube using Rogaine, which gave them decent results.
My GP also gave me prescription for finasteride 1mg to help with the hair growth.
And I read about its side-effects, has any used Regaine or Hair A gain from chemist warehouse ?

Regarding Chemist warehouse websites product reviews-
Every review looks like either their employees wrote it or a paid review. Maybe I might be wrong. Just want to know they are genuine reviews.

  • Was on minoxidil for 6 months - modest gains only, expect to only grow back what you have lost in the past 12 - 24 months at most. Expect to religiously apply the treatment twice a day to see any results. I know that all the "studies" state that there are no side effects but it seriously messed with certain functions. Took me 24 months to feel normal again… Would recommend prioritising health over all these medications. Each to their own and all.

    • I had the same experience… Almost exactly.

Now learning to embrace the loss instead of worrying about it…

Have even tried 6 sessions PRP… Very minimal results..althoigh they do promote 12 session but lockdown didn't permit me to pay for the rest 6.

In my opinion… The only sure thing that works is a transplant… Rest all varies and may come with side effects…

  • Minoxidil is rarely worth it. It will usually work to a modest extent for a while, but it will eventually stop working after about a year depending on the person.
Finasteride is more effective but has potentially bad side effects.
Best option is to just let it happen.

  • Personally Finesteride and Minoxidil have both worked for me. It IS a lifelong financial and time commitment, so be mindful of that. I personally didn't get any side effects, but if you're using minoxidil on the front of your head make sure you wash your forehead afterwards because it can do nasty things to your skin.

Side effects vary depending on the person, but I believe statistically they're relatively rare. They do exist however and for some people they can be serious, so keep that in mind. YMMV.

  • Put all the money you're gonna spend on topical solutions or medications to get a transplant if you're that concerned about it. Everything else is only prolonging the inevitable.

  • Anyone used the liquid vs the foam?

I'm thinking of trying it, bought the liquid on sale via eBay but noticed 4 months foam is around $78

I paid $72 for 6 months, I read the liquid can dry our tour scalp.
