Looking for a cheap(ish) Smart Watch or Fitness Band mainly so I can get alerts for SMS or Phone calls from my phone.
I want this so when I'm on call at work, I can feel the watch/band vibrate on my wrist if I don't feel/hear my phone, which can easily happen with my extra curricular activities.
Anyone got any recommendations? Big plus if it easily shows the contents of the SMS message as well.
Dang. Yeah I was mainly just looking for notification of SMS/Phone call. And I'd only be wearing it during my activities, so battery life shouldn't be much of an issue since it would only need to run for like 5-7 hours MAX.
ChiMot is cracked. These are fairly basic functions, a Xiaomi Mi Band 4 or 5 would do the job for somewhere between $30 - $60. I used a Mi Band 4 for the same reason.
Thanks for letting me know. The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 might be a good option. Seems people are saying connectivity is more stable on that version.

stay away from huawei band rubbish.
There is a current deal going on for the Amazfit Bip. That does notifications for call, SMS, calendar reminders, app notifications. I got it cheap for around $80. You could go with an MI Band as well, if you don't mind the band look instead of a watch look.
For SMS, it shows the first 2 lines - not sure if that's configurable.

Yeah, the price vs features of the Amazfit is pretty good. They come under the Xiaomi umbrella.
The free 'smart' watch model from the Cadbury deal does the trick. Thats what I'm using and using it for.
with that features you want, you will have to spend a lot (hint: galaxy models)
but then after few weeks you will regret buying it. why? because those features you want will drain the battery like hell and you end up charging it twice a day and get annoyed with the watch at the end.
remember the battery technology we have is ancient, the more feature the less running time you get from it.
we are just not there yet.
