Splatoon for Switch Question

We have a switch with 2 sets of joycon but dont have online. Saw 2nd hand splatoon 2 at good price. Is it able to be played locally by 2 players against the other, or is the battle bit fully online only? Is there much to do in the game if you dont have online? Thanks

    Note: The multiplayer modes in Splatoon 2 require that each player have their own Nintendo Switch system and copy of the game. (Split-screen multiplayer is not available.)

      Thank you I was unsure if it differed between countries or anything. What about the individual mode, is that any good / worth it?

        Single player is only good to unlock items for the online multiplayer. It is still fun, but I was trying to rush through it to unlock the items for online play.

          Thanks, Might give it a miss at this point in time. Since my kids are happy without online component I dont want to sign up and then end up facing battles about how much they can play ;)

          The base single player mode wasn't as enjoyable as the original's but the DLC was quite good.

    Does anyone know offhand if Splatoon 2 is still getting new content and events?

      There's going to be a Halloween splatfest and another splatfest or 2 after that but no more new stages/weapons.

    havent played much of it for a couple years, but for a while, splatoon2 online was fun as hell.
