    This game is deeply awesome.

Playing it at night on a projector with the surround sound going is one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

    • I have fond memories of hoovering out Necromorphs into the void of space with those decompression events you can trigger by breaking certain windows. Plus that 6 degrees-of-freedom EVA section of the campaign where you fly around the top of the space station. Really memorable moments.

It's such a shame EA destroyed the series in typical EA fashion by demanding Dead Space 3 have more mass appeal, faster gameplay, a sh*tty co-op multiplayer component and not be a return to the more pure horror-shooter gameplay of the first game, against the wishes of developer Visceral.

The Dead Space franchise had so much potential to eclipse Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Left 4 Dead and F.E.A.R. as one of the greatest horror shooter franchises of all time but now it's mostly remembered as a blip on the gaming timeline.

      • DS 1&2 were as good as any of them. DS3 was the big letdown.

RE stopped being jump scare heavy long ago, but DS did it well.

  • this was good. Just don't play part 3.

  • Heres a recent replay. The horror and sound are full on.

    • Well I definitely have to give another play-through now. They really could have milked that franchise for another 2 or 3 epic sequels, there was so much left to explore in the story and so much left unexplained in the canon regarding the Unitologists, the Marker and the corrupt space station officials.
