Anyone Using Custom Monitor Resolutions for a Long Time

Recently, I had to work with several tabs in two windows in a side by side configuration. But my Dell P1913s 19" monitor's native resolution is just 1280*1024 at 75 Hz.
I found out that I can even run this at 1920 * 1536 @ 60 Hz with custom resolution settings from nVidia control panel. But active signal resolution is still 1280 * 1024 @ 60 Hz. (Windows display settings : https://imgur.com/K171vdt)

So far, it is really good and I was able to finish my work quite easily with this newly claimed screen area with higher resolution (basically everything is scaled < 100%).
I am just wondering has anyone used such high custom resolutions (1600 * 1280 @ 60 Hz is more comfortable) for a long time and whether can there be excessive strain on eyes due to this setup? Any possible other issues ?

I don't think you could buy brand new monitors with this low of a resolution.

    • Yes, I think this one is a 2013 model

But considering new monitors generally have higher resolutions, why would you think this low(which is higher than you recently using) would cause you eye strain?

        • I mean due to the fact that I am using it in a higher custom resolution (1920 * 1536) with lower signal resolution (1280 * 1024) (https://imgur.com/K171vdt).

@bazingaa: That monitor is beyond pathetic, you should upgrade ASAP - you have a GTX1060 that is crying while you use that monitor haha

            • @Nomad2233: haha yeah (got for $25, 2 years back), may be later :D
