Ryzen 5 3600XT for $339 + Approx $10 for shipping. Appears to be a good deal for the current Zen 2 processor, which can boost to 4.6GHz on a single core or about 4.4-4.5 GHz on all cores (with overclocking).

  • Better deals will probably come along after the new release

    • Eventually, but at launch there's not going to be anything near enough this price to push these old CPUs down.

Everything above those should be getting substantially pushed down, such as the 3700X and 3800XT, with will put direct pressure on Ryzen 5 chip prices.

I’m not sure I agree. The new processors are priced a fair bit higher they’ve already effectively been pushed down over their life.

@brimmy11: The 3700X can't be priced the same as the 5600X. They won't sell.

I expect it to clear at $375-$400, and the 3800XT to then take its place at $400-$425, sliding down with the Ryzen 5000 series as appropriate. That directly impacts the value of the 3600 and 3600XT.

AMD's margins on Zen 2 are huge at this point, so there's definitely room to move via them offering a rebate to retailers.

Not a "bad" deal if you need an AM4 processor right now…

Worth noting 5600x is on the way with reasonable improvements, and although more expensive, it will surely make all 3xxx less desireable.

3600 and 3600x etc will likely take less of a hit than the higher core Zen 2.

Yeah but the 5600 is slated to be about $100 more. And it's not coming till next year.

      • +1

        Its coming November 5th

        • +1

5600X is coming November 5th, 5600 is next year

      • The 5600x performance leaks seem to be a bit better than the 3700x,so it'll probably be priced > $460 aud.

If the 5600 benchmarks are between 3600 and 3700x, it'll likely selling for between $330 - $380 aud.

Although, I can see it going for > $400 if it's on par with the 3700x performance.

  • Lowest price so far for the 3600XT but it doesn't justify over the 3600 which you can get for significantly less at ~$260.

    • Yeah, but you can't really get it that price now. Maybe in the black friday and cyber monday deals?

The 3600 is just so popular, it's well over $300 aud. The most recent sub $300 deal was the ebay plus one for $280 aud.

      • But the deals are relatively regular. I think i was looking at the prices for the 3600 and its had sales as low as just over 200 within the last 3 months.

I dont think the 3600 has any supply issues so even if demand is high, the next sale will come around.

Where the hell did you see the 3600 for just over $200?

      • -1

Shopping Express are selling the 3600 for $299 on the same promotion, personally I'd get that over the 3600XT, simply not worth the extra $40 imo

  • i'm so torn on what to choose with all these processors; I heard raving positive review about 3300X then there's also 2 different kind of 3600 being the 3600 and 3600X. then now we have 3600XT … would you guys still go for 3300X or 3600 these days for their current price point (and gaming purposes)?

    • +1

3600 is best bang for buck at the current time, at least until zen 3 arrives
