Can You Use Shoppers Protection Insurance on Costco-Purchased Items?

Hi all, just after some advice on the 28 Degrees Price Protection and hoping to build off the experience of Ozbargainers.

I know that some people have been denied when trying to use price protection against Costco, because it is a club membership.

But can you use price protection on items purchased from Costco, that later go on sale with a different normal Australian retailer?

The PDS just says cover applies 'If you buy an item in Australia', which seems to imply Costco is okay for buying items. But some real-life experience would be great :)

  • Depends what it is, But often on things like TVs they are different model numbers and therefore cannot be price matched.

    • Thanks! I should add it's an iPhone 12 Pro, so I imagine the model numbers will be identical.

      • Is Costco selling it for lower? I normally find iPhones and Airpods cheaper elsewhere

    Yes.

  • I recently did a price drop protection claim on a washer I bought from GG Commercial. They didn't seem to mind that the place I got the item from required a membership.

  • UPDATE: I successfully price matched Apple Store purchase to Costco. Claim submitted over the weekend and approved Monday afternoon. Very efficient and impressed for my first claim.
