Google has an initiative where they give you 2 years of domain registration plus a year of hosting for free. http://www.gettingbusinessonline.com.au/ via http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/40360

    Some tips here, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/category:internet

If you want a .com domain use www.google.com/a and register your domain via them. US$10. Free private registration. They use either eNom or GoDaddy as the registrar. You can then setup hosting wherever you like. Useful thing about Google Apps is it's already setup with email, calendar, google docs, etc.

  • 1and1.com is cheaper (also free Domain Privacy) - $4.99 for the first year.

But you wouldn't want to make a business domain "private", as it looks super shonky LOL

I use Lunarpages.com for hosting, because it's reliable and has unlimited traffic, unlimited add-ons, and you have full control of almost everything. If your site gets busy and slows down (they throttle to share the load amongst the shared servers) then you just upgrade to a bigger plan.

http://www.lunarpages.com/web-hosting/basic-hosting/ = $9/mth for 12 month contract, cheaper if you contract longer.

Don't worry about buying domain and hosting together - it's not necessary at all, and in many ways it's much better if you host doesn't get their grubby mitts on your domain. For gawd's sake DO NOT let them control it… you need to manage it yourself (it's really easy)

  • A Domain name is a string of words that identifies a website. We should be very careful with the naming conventions

    • The domain name is very important for any business and it should be easy to remember without much punctuations.
    • It should be unique and related to business.
    • It should be short and catchy.
    • If it is of universal accepted TLD's like .com,.biz,.info it is more advantageous.

There are different types of hosting and one should choose the appropriate one based on RAM, traffic, performance, privilege etc.

I suggest you can approach Thewebpole.com and get the required service wherein they offer free hosting with the domain name and vice versa.. Hence it will be economical for you.
