Apple Provided Wrong Colour MacBook Pro in 2018. What’s Going to Happen?

I have purchased a Space Grey MacBook Pro in March 2018. Never owned a iPad or any Mac devices before that.

Ordered it online and collected it from the Apple in Highpoint.

Recently chatting with my wife’s sister, about MacBooks. I told her I own a space grey MacBook but it doesn’t seem as dark like hers. After showing her, she insisted it was silver. Yesterday I checked my order from previous emails and I indeed ordered a Space grey. Comparing the invoice and receipt, I have realised they had given me the wrong product, as the product codes were different by one letter, with one being a V and the other a X.

I have emailed them this weekend. But they aren’t operating. I’ll be contacting them this week. Curious on what is the possibilities? Looking at ACCC website, there is no set time limit on warranties/guaranties if it is a wrong product. Still have the original box and all.

Let me know your thoughts.

  • This has to be the dumbest thing i've ever read. You want to file a complaint because of something you did not notice, LOL Talk about clogging up resources for petty things. Grow up seriously.
You should have checked this when it arrived. Check the box it clearly has the color written on the back.

I think apple should file a complaint towards you for being unable to read.

  • I disagree that it is ALL your responsibility to check the colour is correct. It IS your responsibility, but it is even moreso theirs to get it right and give you what you paid for in the first place… They are obliged to perform due diligence as a reputable brand. There IS a failure on their part here. Having said all that, it's clear that you didn't seem to care for 2.5 years what colour you had, so at the very most they might oblige you and replace it with a space grey refurb if the matter is about colour and you really jump up and down about it and pull the ACCC card on them. But, it is far more likely they will just amend the serial on the invoice and call it square. Whatever is said and done, there absolutely no way you will get a new Mac out of this. Absolutely NO CHANCE!

  • I can just imagine an apple employee just sitting at home and seeing the email from OP and just spitting the coffee out of their mouth and sitting there dying of laughter. The employee probably called their supervisor and they probably laughed together and then the supervisor just telling the employee to tell OP to F**k off.
