Warranty period of laptop L15 ThinkPad gen1 15.6

I ordered Lenovo ThinkPad l15 gen1 on October 22 october 2020 and it arrived on 26 October 2020 from shopping express. As stated in website, the manufacturer warranty period is for one year. However, i found in Lenovo app that warranty period started from September and it has warranty of only 10 months remaining instead of 1 year on checking laptop upon its arrival. So, my question is why is warranty only 10 months instead of 1 year? Is is already used laptop?

I'd suggest contacting shopping express and asking them.

  • It should be from the date when you ordered it from shopping express. Call them ir email them

Lenovo doesn't know when you purchased the laptop.

The warranty is from your date of purchase, if you run into any issues just show Lenovo your receipt and they'll adjust the warranty period in their system when they service the unit.

  • It sounds like it has had the warranty registered by a previous user… You ordered and paid for a NEW item, ask SE to send you a NEW one or a full refund if they cannot explain why the wty was previously registered.
Warranty commences from the date of purchase on the receipt.
Was the item factory sealed when you got it? Is the OS a recent fresh install? Any signs of wear or damage on it?

    • Thanks for the suggestion. I found in Lenovo app it can be requested to change the warranty period by attaching invoice. I have requested Lenovo warranty Customer service. There were not any signs of damage. And sealed by Lenovo stickers. Regarding OS, it came with windows Pro and asked me some settings to setup and it ran Bios. Waiting for Lenovo response. If I didn't get postive one withing two days, gonna contact shopping express directly.

      • The warranty date is prefilled from the time the unit leaves Lenovos factory, it then takes some time to get through distribution, retail and into your hands.

But again, the warranty is still from your date of purchase. The unit is highly unlikely to be "used" as xywolap suggested it might be.

This is the same for pretty much every manufacturer.

        • Thanks mngq and xywolap, just emailed shopping express about warranty issue. The are not receiving the calls by making virus issue. Hopefully, problem will be resolved.

        • Hey guys' warranty date is adjusted by Lenovo as I received the response to my email and checked the same in the Lenovo app.
