  • I've used this one for the last few years on 4 different cars and makes them all look like new.

Shop around as I have seen it cheaper.

But make sure you follow the instructions to the letter as it doesn't work the same as other polishes and dont use a polishing machine with it whatever you do. Basically you need to leave you car in the sun for a while to heat up THEN apply the polish, wipe it off after an hour or so then leave your car in the sun all day. Apply with straight strokes, not circular ones as you would with a normal polish.

Everyone has their favourite, see the thread on Whirlpool.

I use Collinite 845 Insulator Wax.

I wipe on and use a DA polisher to finish off for a slick and a high gloss finish.

1 application lasts for months and it doesn't wash off when using a snow cannon.

It's not cheap to buy but a bottle will last for years.

  • I'm planning on getting some Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Meguiar's Ultimate Polish (there is a review here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Dydkw9OYwQ), I just got a dual action polisher. I plan on finally using cquartz UK 3.0. I've been doing a bit of reading, I've only done basic washing then using Turtle ICE in the past.

Polish is not wax/sealant. I know in the US they refer to it this way but they're two vastly different products. Polish is an abrasive substance that's used to remove scratches/swirls and similar imperfections. A wax or sealant adds a layer that's intended to protect the paint and add gloss.

The best polish really depends on what you're trying to fix. Picking the right levels of cut to fix the issue without removing too much of the paint.

    • Up vote for highlighting this important distinction.

Polish is a sometimes task and only when the paint really needs it.

    • Thanks.

Have already applied Meguiar's WashnWax, Ceramic and Detailer on my car that protects the paint but doesn't offer the shine that I wanted so asking around what else I can do.

    • A bit confused about compound and polish, should I get both to get that showroom shine?

      Considering the following -

      Compound:

      Meguiar's M105

      Polish:

      Meguiars M205

      • I use both of those depending on what I'm targeting but can't say if you need them without seeing the car. Some colours just don't have the same deep gloss as others so it could just be that. There's just too many variables.

Compound and polish are essentially the same thing, as I mentioned above they're abrasive, they remove paint to even out the surface. Compound will usually be the more aggressive but that may differ between companies. Method of application will also change how quickly it works.
