Mate at this price point the brand don't matter. This is the cheapest i have ever seen for a washer like this.

  • are there still water rebates on these in victoria?

  • I picked one up at Target Epping (Victoria) today. There were 3 left on the shelf at 10.30am today.

  • Confirmed availability at Canberra Centre Target. At least 4 units left as at 2pm 23/11/11.

The price is $34.88 (don't ask me why it's $1.88 extra here).

Was marked as $59.95 as a clearance product, with an extra 30% off clearance tag right next to that price (which means product should be $41.96). So obviously some issues with Target's pricing - not that I'm complaining lol.

I grabbed one. The quality is not TOO bad, but it's pretty gutless compared to a "proper one". I grabbed it because my 3200psi petrol washer is TOO powerful for many jobs, and I need a smaller, lighter unit.

The nozzle on the end of the lance is adjustable - on the narrow setting it is pretty useless except to write your name in the concrete. But you can twist and adjust it to a fan shape and that works a bit better.

One major issue for me - the unit doesn't start reliably. This is caused by extremely high water pressure here at my place. When the unit detects a pressure drop, it switches on…. but because my main water pressure is so bloody high, it doesn't detect it and won't activate. I'll need to do some more testing and see if this is adjustable somehow.

They scanned at the marked price $34.88 for me too.

    WARNING

This is a follow up to my earlier post - the unit that I bought definitely has a problem with switching on, even on a low pressure mains water supply.

There's a pressure switch inside - when the lance (nozzle) has pressure, the unit is forced to OFF. When the pressure drops in the outlet side (eg: you pull the trigger) then the motor (is supposed to) start.

Mine will never start with the nozzle connected to the lance. If I take the nozzle off (so it's only got a trigger and a large open hole) then the motor will SOMETIMES start. Even that is not reliable.

So, it's gotta go back - it cannot be used as-is. I'll report back if the replacement unit has the same problem.

    • Where do you live , is it rural or metro, this could help others with water pressure issues etc

  • Tried my unit briefly last night.

It had one issue - the connector from the hose to the lance leaked, as in water was spraying out from that connector while in use. I think that because of this, the pump also kept on going on and off while the trigger was not in use - although operation was fine if I had the nozzle pressed. I suspect a bit of plumbers tape around the screw in connector would make a good seal, but I'm going to exchange the unit for a new one (shouldn't require user to put on tape to get get it work as it should).

In terms of output pressure, it is fine for washing the car, light cleaning duties (patio, windows, small jobs etc). It's good for use for where I live in Canberra cause the government decided to put flow restrictors at the water mains for each house, rendering the water pressure next to useless for such activities.

Would not recommend this unit for any serious cleaning though (blasting concrete clean etc). Like llama I have a "proper one" for this (Gerni 130.2, but from memory that cost me $300, so apples and oranges).

    • Same issue with replacement unit, leaking connector at lance.

Just use a bit of plumbing tape and all ok.

Works fine now, front of house nice and clean :)

      • found the same till i found a wrench and gave it a good tighten.

have to say i am impressed for the price my car is clean, and all my pavers have gone from brown/black back to light orange after all the cleaning.
