Asus RTX 3070 TUF Vs. Strix

Hi,

I have purchased every part of my new pc and am currently looking for a GPU.
I know I would like a 3070, either the Tuf or Strix.
However, I can't find a review that explains what the real difference between them is, except for the RGB aspect.

If anyone who knows what they're talking about would care to explain, would greatly appreciate it.

Cheers!

  • The Strix is Asus's flagship brand and generally has higher (over)clocks than the TUF series which is considered their budget/entry brand. There may be few extra things here and there like better cooling, better looking unicorn vomit etc. Thats generally how it works, though I havnt seen the specs on either card yet.

This Gen the TUF cards are actually good, with the 3080 TUF peaking at around 62 degrees if I remember right. No reason to pay extra for the strix (which costs more than a few 3080's mind you)

Is there any particular reason you’re chasing ASUS?

Strix in particular… they look good, but after a custom OC on another reference card, you’re not going to get your value for money worth when it comes to pure frames.

In fact, you can pretty much pick up an mid tier EVGA 3080 for the same price as the Strix 3070 ($1299) That would be a way smarter option IMO.

Strix is a waste of money on the 3070 range, you might as well pay abit less and get the bottom range of the evga 3080, you get a big bump in performance at a lower price, thats if you can find it in stock or are willing to wait a couple of months.

  • Just wait. The current price here is ridiculous

the asus strix 3080 is AU$1200 in the US.
