Seems to be a bit of a board game sale happening on Amazon. Some decent prices. A few random examples:

Codenames - $21
Point Salad - $28.25 (Historic Low $27.68 via Amazon US)
Just One - $31.20 (Historic low, although I have seen it in the shops for $28 before)
Carcasonne Big Box 2017 - $92.70 (Historic low)
Sequence - $22.40 (Historic Low $20)

Other stuff discounted too, but just nominal $ off, not the best price or anything.

  • Is Carcasonne Big Box worth it? Never played it before and base game can be had less than $40

    • Carcassonne is a great tile-laying game.. I haven't played many of the expansions, but I've heard that some a pretty good.

FWIW I ended up deciding against it after reading this discussion:

Carcassonne is one of our favourite games. We have bought a few expansions, and I don't find them as engaging as the base game. I also hear that a lot of people don't like the newer artwork. I believe that the base game still uses the old artwork, but the big box uses the new.
I would definitely recommend buying the base game, but the big box I'm not as sure I'd recommend.

Love Carcasone, I have this "Big Box" and play with the first few expansions, but feel it gets a little silly after the first few. So if you can get the base game, the river and knights cheaper than the big box - I'd suggest doing that.

    • It's worth having a couple of expansions, but you definitely don't need all of them..

Keep a look out for the Italian version as it is usually about $75ish delivered. The rules are in Italian but you can find the English ones online.

    • Dunno about the big box, but I got one with a few expansions and it was the most boring game I've ever played.

I have about 50 board games and it's locked at the bottom of the pile.

That's just my experience of about 10+ games of trying to like it given all the glowing reviews, but I played with 2 other people and all 3 of us agreed it just was flat, boring and not a lot of fun.

Don't take my word for it, but I would maybe recommend either finding a friend who has the game and trying it or buying the more basic version which is WAY cheaper, just in case.

    • I bought the big box many years ago and only ever played the base game, and the river expansion on occasion.

If you're after Codenames and that's all you're getting, it's probably cheaper to get it from Kmart once you add shipping cost to Amazon.

  • Sequence is $22.50 at Big W with an EDR card linked.

  • 7 Wonders Card Game, cheapest ever according to ccc, $46.45.

Unstable Unicorns is $19.65 with Prime shipping: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07BMLQBM1/?smid=A2BLDW…

  • They have a pretty good price on my (almost) favourite game, Kemet. But then I found a better one (+$7 shipping):

Some of these are price matched to the Mighty Ape sale.

Always check boardgameoracle (or similar price tracker) before buying.

  • Codenames is 14c cheaper if bought through Handsome Games (go to 'See all buying options' on Amazon store page).

I purchased a copy from them recently and it turned out to be a dodgy fake.

      • If it was through Amazon's website they refund fakes, or is that only if sold by them?

        • They refunded without too much hassle (I offered a photo showing the obvious issues and a website that referenced those errors as a definite fake), but I'm a little disappointed that they haven't taken more action to stop the seller.

      • Yep, only buy if sold by Amazon or a well known games shop.
