Boost Mobile Sim Not Recognized

I recently got a boost mobile sim from cellpoint for $159 (RRP $200).

Got sim activated an hour ago and got the activation email.

Inserted the Sim in Huawei Mate 20 (dual sim) and the phone recognised the other sim but boost sim didnt even show up.
Removed it and inserted it in Samsung Galaxy S7. Same issue.

Feel so frustrated as other network sims never had this problem. I had used Optus, WW mobile, Lebara without any issues in the past.

Need OzB help here on what to do.

Have anyone faced this issue before and how did you get it resolved?

Appreciate any amount of help here.

    Have your rebooted the phone

    • yes
Also reset network settings, read somewhere that might help but didnt

      • Jump on their chat, I'm sure they'll sort it.

          Yes, I am trying that

  • What does the activation email say? Is it meant to be active now? Or within 3 hours or something?

    Have you tried Boost support?

Have you tried both slots of the dual sim phone? Sometimes the sim slots support different bands. Is the S7 a grey import or locked together Optus?

    • tried both slots.

The email does say 4 hours but it says once you get the sim activated, you will get an email, which I did.

Both phones have B28 and bought locally.

Boost support takes ages on chat. I am trying to stay online until someone responds. Been 30 minutes on chat window so far

Just ask Boost for a replacement Sim, they'll post one out to you via startrack overnight

  • This reminds me of the person who accidentally drank poison and asked OzBargain what to do. There are better people to contact for this! In your case - Boost mobile.

    • Boost mobile support has been crappy and 3 hours on chat with 3 different reps revealed their sim is faulty.

      Enjoying your comment though!

Maybe choose a different service provider instead of complaining about service?

  • Update - Boost support considers their sim as faulty and have issued a blank sim. They mentioned that some phones do have incompatibility with Boost mobile however Mate 20 and S7 should be fine.

  • I had the same issue with a Boost sim with a Huawei Honor 8x phone. I was told by both Telstra and Boost that the phone was incompatible with the Telstra network due to the difference in frequency that the phone is designed for (in India). Here's a link to a forum topic about the issue https://crowdsupport.telstra.com.au/t5/huawei/honor-8x-not-w…

    • Thanks mate and I suspected that too but since I bought the phones in Australia and they have necessary frequencies so should be out of question.

I have bought a $2 sim from woolies and it worked fine. So the earlier sim appears faulty. Fingers crossed hoping the porting works with the blank sim.

  • Update - Problem finally got resolved. New sim works.

  • Sometimes an Activation will fail for no reason at all.

SIM works but can't call or use Data.

You need to say the magic words:

    "
My SIM is stuck in In-flight status.

Only Backend team can fix it.

Please get the Backend team to fix it.
    "

    This always works for me!
