  • Do these work in an oven?

or are the just for BBQs ?

    • +1

Yep can be used in oven.

    • yes,

    The app looks pretty good…

It congratulates you after you cook your food…

unfortunately your jokes and comments are way "Over Done"

Bought one of these last time. Have been using it for a few weeks for roasting, boiling, sous vide and frying.

    • Seems to randomly stops working. I’ve had to replace the batteries at least five or six times over the course of four weeks now. Tried both probes.
    • Any minor bump or having the cord twist slightly results in it turning off and then having to reset the batteries or replace them.
    • Occasionally glitches jumping up 100C or so in temperature, even when the probe is fully submerged in water < 200C.
    • The Bluetooth functions pretty well and has a pretty decent range. However the app stops recording the temperature after a while if it’s in the background, which makes it a bit useless. This has been brought up multiple times in reviews and hasn’t been addressed.
    • Build quality feels pretty cheap overall.

Probably not worth it for this price. You’d be better investing in something a bit more expensive that has better build quality and longevity.

Thanks redacto - I'm actually looking for a good BBQ Thermometer and probably would have bought this without your shared wisdom!

Can anybody recommend a decent (not too expensive) one?

I purchased an Inkbird IBBQ-4T in a recent deal, been using it in the smoker, works great.

        Paid around $69 shipped.

        • $69 is inkbird 10th anniversary deal on Sep 15.Here is the link for wifi thermometer IBBQ-4T(Buy wifi thermometer.get thermometer pen ITH-1P for free)

          • @Inkbird: Hmmm, think I'll wait for the 20th anniversary deal.

EDIT: It's also cheaper at Amazon. Come on rep - lift your game.

            • @MJ1: But if the same brand, might not have the same issues?

        • Do your charts work properly on the app rbaggio? Mine is rubbish and the app is full of similar reviews

    • +1

I like how instead of the inkbird rep trying to solve your issues or offer customer service they just advertise another product.

Speaks volumes to the fact that everything you've mentioned is likely true and known issues that are just ignored.

      • +1

The wifi one is actually quite good and a huge upgrade from the cheaper Bluetooth ones.

      • very interesting observation..

rather than acknowledge it, which would admit fault and therefore render this bargain post useless
use it as an opportunity to up sale other more expensive.

Though I doubt trying solve the someone's problem in a forum is adequate solution either.
since the most the rep can do is ask them to pm them their contact details and order number..
which they could do privately as warranty claim anyway..

unless the warranty is now expired.

    • To catering different buyers, inkbird has different bbq thermometers with different prices from $19.99-$150.Of course, sometimes some people may think ibt-2x is not good enough, but i have to say if you expect more from thermometer, you should be ware of its price. We have bbq thermometer of better quality, longevity and connection,it's wifi ibbq-4t,and it costs $135.

Is that your response to the issues highlighted by redacto?

        • In other words…

We do not publicly admit liability for any faults of this product which may or may not be crap according to the above criticism..
However feel free to buy one of our more expensive models, if you don't feel this model suits you.

Or just buy this model, since we didn't acknowledge any of the above mention faults.

  • Which one is better in comparison to this one?

    Maverick ET 737

    • I've had a maverick (different model) for about 10 years now and still going strong

  • I've used one of these in my webber, oven, home brew (taped to side of fermenter).
So about 20 times in the past year or so.
    Zero issues.
