Give a Mate $5 and Earn $5 for Yourself with WeMoney

310

Taking inspiration from the always-generous Oprah, WeMoney will now now give you and your mate $5 each for every successful referral you make.

Yes, you read that correctly, $5 for you and $5 for your mate. It's a win-win!

There's no limit to how many referrals you can make so start spreading the word. Then sit back, pour yourself a cold one, put your feet up and watch your bank balance grow.

How do I refer?

Scroll down to the bottom of your home screen in the WeMoney app and share your link. Once your friend signs up and connects at least 1 bank account, you'll be notified inside of your own app.

  • My link to download the app was deleted because it contained my referral code. Hopefully everyone can actually download the app without a link.

  • thanks OP. Interested in understanding more about this. Is this a consolidation platform? As in just see all accounts in the same place? Do you have to allow access to your accounts by providing account details and passwords? Would this be against bank policy?

    • +1

You'll need to login to your related accounts such as Credit cards, Bank accounts and even stock accounts such as SelfWealth. It is all encrypted and is Read-only, so they don't have access to do anything with your accounts, just the info needed to consolidate your balances.

It would be done over your Bank's API for read-only access, so as far as I'm aware there would be no issue with bank policies

      • does it work with any neo-banks?

        • +2

All the ones I have seen so far have been "coming soon" such as Up, xinja and 86400. Up bank support is currently one of the highest community voted feature requests.

          • @Phototonic: yeah ill probably stick with moneybrilliant until someone integrates with neo banks like 86 400 and my crypto accounts

          • @Phototonic: Neo? Just left 86400 for ING.
            Better saving account interest rate.

No worries. This app tracks my spending, savings, mortgage, super and credit score. I like being able to see everything in one app.
I cant comment on bank policy but the app is only accessing your accounts in read only mode.

This page might answer some of your questions around security: https://www.wemoney.com.au/security

  • So has anyone used this app and how good is it?

  • How to withdraw the bonus?

    • +1

Message support from within the app and they will collect your PayPal details. Otherwise I think they payout weekly on a Monday and will reach out to you.

  • So I click the image on the post and it takes me to a page that says join the wait list? How do I download the app to try this out?

Nice app, created account, linked my super, bank, afterpay etc and was pretty seamless, the layout is awesome and similar to UP bank, don't know about the credit score thing. Can anyone confirm if these guys actually do a credit enquiry every 30 days, if so that's a deal breaker, no one has to do a credit enquiry every 30 days!

    • This is a concern

      • It is for me to, while I love the layout etc, if I cant get an answer I will ask them to remove my info and uninstall the app. I dont want, and 99% of people, don't want a credit query every 30 days

        • +1

I've asked and was informed that WeMoney places an "Access Seeker Request" which they claim doesn't effect our credit score at all. It is considered a credit enquiry and will appear as a "File Note" on our credit file with Experian. Not sure how frequently do they request for the "Access Seeker Request".

          • @nmehta: Can confirm that the "Access Seeker Request" is done on a monthly basis and will appear as a file note on our credit file. Is that a concern for anyone?

    • +1

I am signed up to plenty of "credit checkers" and I don't think any of them actually perform credit enquires in the way the bank does when you apply for credit.

I think they are all simply checking a common source of truth or a register. I'll shoot a message to the WeMoney team and see what they come back with.

I don't think people should be worried about this app performing "credit enquires"

  • How does this company make money if they only link all your bank accounts and super and afterpay accounts?

    • "Currently the platform is free, How will WeMoney make money to make this
      sustainable?

WeMoney in the future will explore business models that are win-win for members and if we can create a huge amount of value to your life. In return we may charge a small fee in return. More importantly, all features that are available now are free to use, and only very advanced features may attract a small fee. We will be patient and co-create WeMoney along with our members to what is most sustainable for us. We really believe that financial wellness should be available to everyone and the lowest possible price. We also may explore business models whereby WeMoney receives a bounty for helping you with a financial product."

      • Thanks for the link. I guess they will eventually charge some sort of fees on certain part of functionality. Also they might act as a broker on some of the financial products to get commissions. This is understandable as long as the push notification or advertisements are not very intrusive.

      • OP, u seem to know alot about this company. Can u reply to my earlier comment regarding credit checks? No way does this app every 30 days query your credit score to keep and "up to date credit score", if it does this is a massive deal breaker!

        • Will reply best I can. I'm just a user with Google. Haha.

          • @wipwar: Lol i get that, since being with them for "months" can u confirm if any credit query's have shown up on your credit file for this app?

            • @Iwantthebestprice: I'll check a few services I use for tracking my credit score and let you know. I doubt it though. I've been using credit score services for years and have never seen anything on my file.

              • +1

@wipwar: Alright, I've checked my CreditSimple, CreditSavvy and WeMoney credit reports. There is only one enquiry from when I purchased a car on finance a few years ago. Hopefully that helps you.

  • You must really love We Money, to take your icon off their website.

    • Haha. It's just the rocket emoji. Can't see it on their website either.

A positive of this is app access to Ubank, who don't have their own app.

  • The idea is great I liked it, the app (at least Android) is not very polished at the moment.

  • Do you get the money, or units in WeMoney?

    • You get the money. The description on the referral tab is out of date. I've requested it be updated.

  • how do you know if the referral code used was successful? when do you get the $5?

  • Has anyone successfully added Afterpay account? I got error message saying they are still working on it.

Anyone concerned for $5 that they are giving all info about their multiple financial records to this 3rd party and who knows on what they will do to those data?

  • got $5 credit today for referral wife but not the one i used from here. how do you cash it out?

    • Same here. Referral from here didn't work but referred someone else and it worked. I believe they'll ask for your PayPal details or you can reach out to them first.

  • What happens when you connect your bank account, stock brokers, credit cards ?

They can start seeing all your transaction details?

    • its read only access many fin techs do that now. put down an old bank account with 1 cent in it that you don't use much if you are concerned.

  • Trying out both this and MoneyBrilliant. Let’s see which one is better.

I had so much issue trying to get myself verified for WeMoney. Customer service was really slow in responding and didn’t understand my issues. Finally managed to get myself manually verified not long ago so let’s see.

    • Which one do you think is better? I’ve got MoneyBrilliant but not this one…yet!

    • firestint Do you still use it?

  • How's this compare to Frollo?
