Braun Series 5 5030s Dry Waterproof Shaver $94 Delivered @ Shaver Shop

120
WELCOME5

Is a good deal if you don't want the clean station (is still waterproof so can be rinsed under the tap). Better dry shave than the 'new' Series 5-7 shavers. Does come with a soft travel pouch.

Can this shave closer than blades?

    • +5

Physically impossible to get close shave than blades that actually touches your skin, while shaver always have thin foil between your skin and the cutter mechanism.

      • Good to know. I've never used electric before

    • I signed up and didn't get $10 off

      • You may need to wait until the popup appears on the page.
Open the deal page in incognito and leave it open for a min. Make sure no other incognito pages/tabs are open

        • ahh too late, I just use the WELCOME5 code and paid the extra $5

  • Has anyone had 7 or 9 series? Is 9 series that good comparing to Panasonic arc shaver? Thanks

    .
If using the Newsletter Sign up the $10 discount applied $89……no store pick up option (greyed out)….they then charge $7.95 Delivery even though the page says

"Free Standard Delivery applies for all orders $50 and over A standard delivery fee of $7.95 applies to all orders under $50." …….after 10 minutes I gave up !!!

update…..rang store said They've been OzBargained today !!….appears IT problem with postage….FIXED now …….ordered $89 includes delivery :)

  • Thanks for the post. Very timely as I was going to start looking for a new shaver today.

  • It's probably my technique but with Braun shavers I've owned in the past I burnt holes in the foils regularly and the cutters went dull quickly.

I never had a problem with needing to replace parts on the Philips shavers I've had and so far haven't gone through any parts on my Panasonic… I'd like a cheap shaver for traveling but worried I'll burn through parts again.

Has anybody had experience with the foils and cutters on these?

    • How often do you clean and lube your foils? Do you push hard on your face when shaving?

      • I was using the clean and renew kit on both Braun models and I'd use it after every shave… I didn't feel like I pressed hard but I had considered that at the time and tried to be mindful of the possibility.
The Philips ones have never been an issue and the Panasonic so far so good

When I looked online about the issue it seemed like lots of people were reporting burning through foils well before the recommended replacement interval (~18 months), I reckon I was getting 6 months out of mine… At least it felt like that because I had to run out and grab replacement parts at short notice.

The cost of the foil and cutter sets along with the clean and renew cartridges made the expense of an arc 5 justifiable IMHO… At least in my own mind, lol.

        • Thanks for the reply - I'm in the process of getting my first good electric shaver so comments like yours are super valuable. Which models of philips and panasonic have you been using and do you have a favourite so far? Do the Panasonic cutters seem like the best value for money in your opinion?
had been very tempted by this deal because its the least expensive Series 5 by far but if you feel that the replacement blades are terrible I may have to look elsewhere - any recommendations? My facial hair does not grow very thick or fast so I'm looking for a 3-4 blade shaver under 300.

@abadacus: I got an old school seppo Arc5, the LV95S… AFAIK it's pretty comparable to the LV9Q but with a different display setup and without the gold passivation on the middle foils.

Does the trick when I could be bothered shaving (yay covid) and even mowed through it after a short shaving hiatus…

Here's one going for a pretty decent price ($149US) on Amazon US with free prime shipping to Australia… SWIM should probably post it on ozbargain!

@ToobsAU: If you get one make sure you buy bulk cleaning solution from the US of A too… It's worth almost $20 here but you can get five of them for that price over there

            • @ToobsAU: Thanks for the tip, will be keeping an eye out for black friday ;)

  • Is it a wet and dry shaver or only dry?

    • Dry only, but is waterproof so you can wash under the tap.

  • Wow last night I was debating this and erred not to. Then today the new 20% Cashrewards deal came up. That pushed me over the line.

So with that it should be $80, that’s pretty good for a $260+ shaver!

FYI most of the 'RRP' prices are bullcrap from the Shaver Shop, this shaver is normally $120.

  • Anyone tried wet shaving with this model? Even though is is only supposed to be a 'dry' model as the packaging doesn't state wet & dry, it still is waterproof..
