    • Awesome, thanks!

    • legend!

  • How do you upload a webpage into doc. than save as google docs?

    • You can just install a PDF printer driver, then print the webpage.

  • My fridge is in the top half, happy with that :)

  • Hi,
This floated into my E-mail this morning if you are into Samsung fridges or anything…

    http://samsung.com.au/news/index.php?/articles/samsung-refri…

  • bottom line for the ultra lazy(if you were really that lazy you would get someone else to read that report?!) Fisher and Paykel take up 6 of the top places, we've had a mid size F&P for last 4 years and apart from a broken door shelf(too much weight with bottles beers etc) we are happy

  • I don't believe this! I have a Fisher and Paykel fridge and it's just not working at the moment. It was a 2nds carton-damaged product anyways… but still,.?

  • best fridges?
Any Korean made one but not Samsung and you will be ok.
Avoid Fisher and Paykel frides as well… many friends have had them and regret it very much. Seems like Ultraskool (comment above) has one of the F&P nightmares at the moment.

  • We had an upside down F&P. It died just outside of extended warranty. While some might think we'd gotten a good run out of it, I don't expect to be buying a new fridge every 5 years. I can't say I've ever had one of their appliances last particularly well.

While shopping for its replacement a few months ago, the SMELL coming from the Samsung fridges (not just one, but every one of them) was really nasty - obviously something they'd used in the manufacture, and while it would no doubt eventually disappear, I didn't fancy eating food that had absorbed it in the meantime.

    • Geewhizz, we just got one of these 6 months ago. Loving it at the moment, but I really hope it lasts longer than 5 years.

To OP, whatever brand you choose, I would consider getting an upside-down fridge. It's so easy to use, and the freezer is so easily accessible. The main disadvantage is meant to be higher electricity consumption (probably only slight) because in a conventional freezer-on-top fridge, the cool air naturally sinks down and cools the fridge. We bought the Fisher Paykel E402BLX model because it has special easy-glide rollers that don't freeze and get stuck. Still happy with it, but it's been only 6 months.

I don't get commissions from them, but I've bought a couple of large white-goods from appliancesonline.com.au and their delivery service was great. Delivery guys gave me a two-hour window, they were on time, they were really cheerful (I know, it's weird) and they took away my old fridge for free. All up, from arrival to departure, took 10-15 minutes and I was left with gorgeous new fridge, with no packaging or crap to clear away.

So good luck with your search!

  • can someone please post the newer version of this
    thanks muchly

    • Thanks so much for this handy hint!!

  • Can someone please post the newer version of this?
Fridge just died and looking to buy the LG GC-305SW, the white version of the LG GC-305PS on the list.
    Thanks very much

  • I thought about buying an LG fridge last time but was put off by their false energy ratings. http://www.choice.com.au/green-home/saving-energy/green-prod…

    • That trick is not unique to LG.
It is just like the fuel consumption figures quoted on new cars… VRA (very roughly accurate).

Choice reports are handy as a bit of a guide but they cannot tell you which fridge will fail in 2 years? I have heard several stories about F&P fridges and cannot see how Choice recommended them?

Samsungs have a problem with door rust after about 12 months.

Go to www.productreview.com.au and read up on feedback from actual owners.. hard to beat that sort of info.

I might go with Kelvinator for our next fridge … 2 door side by side.

      • Thanks for that. I had already had a look there, the previous model from 3 reviews got a couple of 5 stars and a 3 star based on not being rust free finish as advertised. Which is pretty good.

From what I have read seems in general LG are quiet which is what I am after, but maybe don't get things cold as quick which I can live with for the price.

With Choice based on the previous article linked above are all fridges reviewed or just the top ten and the rest ranked? And is it possible to buy this one article as a one-off without subscribing?

        • I would not base any purchasing decision on anything recommended by choice.
Over the years they have rated some poor performing products as a good buy. Why, heaven knows. I suppose it is like the wheels car awards… most of those leave you wondering why?

I doubt any fridge you buy today would classify as being noisy.
What I put as my priority is …#1 Longevity.. hard to assess but who wants to buy a new fridge every 2 or 3 years? #2 Build quality.. rust resistant and hinges/handles/shelving that is sturdy. #3 Reliable warranty, not some fob off outfit that just gives you the run around. 4# Price is important but paying more for quality is always a good idea, within reason. On the topic of quality the market seems to be swamped with no-name brands, F&P, S-Sung etc. The quality brands of recent times like Sharp, Mitsibishi, etc are rarely seen in the major retail stores.

As already mentioned I have decided to go for a Kelvinator when we decide to replace our faultless Sharp which is just becomming a bit small for our gluttonous habbits these days :-) Kelvinators are not normally seen in the major retailers also, this may be a good sign?

  • Any updates on this for more recent fridge reviews?

    • I hope this is readable, don't know the best way to share it spans can only think of imgur https://imgur.com/a/ujRsy
