I just got the Riverina, persuaded by my partner. I'm used to a cheap hat and it feels like such a waste of money! Looks good though!
How much are the big Bunnings hats these days?
$6
FYI there isn't much of a different between 30+ and 50+
RSEA has some really good quality hats…
How was it?
Not out
I have a Sunday Afternoon Ultra Adventure hat. Super light, protects the face and neck…..have used it on overseas trips etc. (not the most fashionable item like an Akubra…)
Big W has a range of quality Cancer Council UPF 50+ hats for a reasonable price (around $20-30).

Legionnaire's hat like this provides good coverage (don't need face covering unless you're in the desert) - was $6-8 before COVID: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Unisex-Outdoor-Sport-Fishing-Hik…

Fedora.
So you can tip your hat at people…. and get beaten up
I use a Columbia Bora Bora hat when out fishing.
Use UnderArmour fish sombrero hat at other times https://www.underarmour.com.au/en-au/men%E2%80%98s-ua-fish-s…
Then I just saw this wide hat !!
That'll really annoy the wife if I get one lol

Yes, UPF 50+ hats are really helpful, especially when you're out lure fishing for hours under the sun. While focusing on casting and retrieving lures, we often forget how strong the UV rays can be. A good sun protection hat keeps you safe so you can enjoy fishing longer without worrying about sunburn.

Get an Akubra, support the local economy and buy something made to last :). The Traveller is good for everyday wear.
