Ok so I'm gona call ops b.s., is the warranty on those panels 25 year product as you have written or 25 year performance?

Either way this is as low as you go before dropping off the known brands, installed by a non local :/

JA Solar have a 12 year product and 25 year performance warranty for all of there solar panels. The performance of the Poly panels are warrantied for 80.7% of their original power output. For Mono Perc it is 83.1%. … The extended warranty means your initial investment will be covered.Oct 11, 2020

      • So change the way it's written to reflect that as the way you have it now implies a full 25 year warranty.

He's right about the quality, but the price reflects it. If it lasts the warranty period its covered its cost, but when it dies no more STC's for that house so the next decent quality system will cost even more than it would if bought in the first place.

        • Stc will be gone by then anyway

    • thanks good spot just updated with Product sheet

  • Panels to generate 6.6kw with a 5kw inverter. Am I missing something here?

    • +3

Western power doesn't allow inverters over 5kw (if you want to be eligible for feed in tariff) and I believe the 6.6kw maximises STC? Something like that, whatever the reason it's the most common configuration in WA

      • Are WA owners allowed a battery??

        • Yes but I would wait till they drop in price as the payback is too long in comparison to warranty. I have seen a few good batteriies coming out next year but I would keep your money atm.

The STC scheme allows 33% more panel power than inverter power. I found most systems are specified this way (5kW inverter and 6.6kW panels, 10kW inverter and 13.2kW panels).

Overall it does make sense to do this, as your 6.6kW system will produce more power overall, since the panels only produce 6.6kW at the peak of the day (summer?), so even though the power is capped to 5kW at the peak, overall production is higher through the rest of the day.

If you have single-phase power (like most houses), you can export 5kW. If you have 3-phase (pay extra for an upgrade), you can export 5kW per phase (15kW total).

Source: I've been looking into solar for the last few weeks and signed up for a system yesterday.

Hi Alaric with our system we over size the inverters by 30% to get the max panel amount, this way you get more STC (gov rebate and get the most performance.

Western Power has a max limit of 5kw for inverters for single phase if you have 3 phase you can go higher in size with approval from WP.

      • I have 3 phase power. I don't get feed in tariff if I go beyond 5kw system in WA.

  • Edit: replying to above.

Meanwhile the website is registered under a different abn / company. SOLAR TRANSITION PTY LTD So that’s a red flag.

  • What is the best in ACT??

  • sorry please see next comment

  • Thanks for the message we don't install for ACT I do know the install costs are a lot higher due to cyclone building regulations.

  • Anyone knows any good deals for Sydney residents? My postcode is 2166

  • I just signed on Wednesday for the exact same amount ($3K) for 18x 370W Seraphim panels and a Growatt inverter here in Perth, (with a different company) - so this price is simply in line with the market, rather than a bargain…
