    That seems super cheap

  • +1

1&2 are quite cheap usually too.

Quite a lot of controversy over the crowdfunding. I'm glad I took the refund as the end product and the way they handle exclusive release on Epic is bad.

Specifically, it was advertised as Steam release during Kickstarter and afterward decided for it to be Epic exclusive.

    • +5

I'm happy I got refunded too.
For the reasons you outlined - and the fact Yu Suzuki didn't conclude the game.

Not only that, but nothing substantial happens in this game at all. Ryo is basically in the exact same position at the end of this game, as he was in the last.

      Really disappointing.
      Great deal though :P

Yup same. Although I did choose to keep my Phoenix Point pledge.

I think I just mostly got caught up in the Shenmue hype bandwagon at the time, and regretted it mid-way through the development.
      Happily took the refund.

    • It's being released on Steam now finally.

    • We could get refunds? I probably couldn't because I chose physical PS4 version

  • Any chance this game is eligible for the EB Games “trade in 2 games and pay $29…” deal?

    • +2

Very unlikely as it's $15 brand new at EB.

    • +3

Na, its trade in value is down to like $4 now.

  • no love for xbox?

    • Also wanting this on Xbox. The game felt more like a DLC for Shenmue 2 with some fandoms thrown in, but still enjoyed exploring that world

    • +1

The game didn't even come out on Xbox

      • -3

WTF serious? The xbox is the spiritual successor to the Dreamcast and it didn't even come out? Come on Yu Suzuki!

  • Thanks I ordered a copy.. Really enjoyed the first 2 so will be glad to play this even if it isn't outstanding

  • I could be wrong but I believe it was never released on Xbox and is a PS4 & Windows exclusive, I think Sony even financed some of its creation

  • +4

i've sold my PS4 with hope that I've landed PS5 or PC gaming rig (by now) and here I am fruitless

    • That sucks

    • +1

How you miss the techfast deals bring posted weekly?

  • I heard this game was inspired by a ubisoft employees casual work day at the office.

    • +1

      I see.

  • It was valid for the $29 JB offer, but I’m guessing they changed the games list?

    • The games list changes daily, so yes. Too many traded it in and lowered the value as a result.

  • +2

It's $5 so might as well,

but here is a review on this game. You have been warned

  • Just a little over a week until this game releases on Steam 😀

  • +4

I'm old enough to have owned the original Shenmue on the Dreamcast and was one of my best gaming memories. What did I miss should I just leave it as is and not spoil the memory with 2& or 3

    • Same thoughts. Not tried 2 or 3.

    • Same here but all I can remember is working in a warehouse and it was as mind-numbing as growing up and getting a real job :(

    • 2 is definitely worth a play if you have good memories of the first game - much bigger world, more interesting characters and a few quality of life improvements (eg time shifting so you don’t have to wait ages for a certain store to open). I honestly prefer it over the original.

Just by looking at the cover art, you can tell how behind the times this game is.

  • +1

I love Dunkeys video of this game.
    Its a good laugh.

  • Yes managed to pick this up yesterday but because JB no longer has the steelbook edition listed in their database she gave me that version for $9 instead of the standard. Now that’s a bargain!

    • +1

It sure is. I paid like $60 USD for the standard PS4 version in the Kickstarter!
