Cool, I haven't had mine checked for a while so Medicare should cover it.

Coz Medicare pays $100+ for 5 or 6+ contact lens prescription, I usually get some 'samples' for free anyway, which I believe lens companies throwing for free.

    • How do you get the samples?

      • When you book in, they request sample from the lens companies for the test then you can nicely ask them give you what's left after the test.

  • Not really free if examination fees may apply

I've got a feeling lots of optometrists have sample packs of prescription lens to give out for free for people who are just starting and don't know if they like contacts. I remember getting 5 days of free contacts when I first needed them.

    • You are right, I got 2 pairs each time I have annual eye test with Specsavers.

Haha yea the last time precision 1 did this basically no place I went to knew about it. And it was this painful process of them calling their managers and trying to book you in for an eye test and the works even though you already got one less than 6 months ago. Some were like "we never give out free lenses" despite being showed the exact voucher and the valid optometrists and them being on the list

  • When I started using contacts recently, specsavers gave me a trial pack for free to see if I liked using them or not. Pretty sure that's a standard thing really.

  • Why bother? Almost every optometrist I've ever been to offers a few pairs as samples anyway - the lense companies give them sample packs to do this. Last one was a BUPA eye store, bulk-billed examination, they gave me 6 pairs of daily disposables of 2 different brands, to try out.
