Home Theatre System with Blue ray player: Samsung HT-D6750 UPDATE #3!!! $550 from Harvey Norman: The quest is over.

Samsung HT-D6750, which has HDMI 1.4, ARC (Audio Return Channel), 2D->3D, analogue upscaling, 3D sound with 7.1-ish speakers included (more like 5.1 with bounce), Smart Hub via built in WIFI or ethernet connection etc. Amazing bunch of features in the one unit.

Harvey Norman price beat Radio Rentals which had it for $592, with the price of $550.

$550 beats all online/store prices that I have found. But I have to wait 2 weeks for it to come in (16 on backorder). According to Myers this model is now superseded, but no other store or rep seems to know this.

You may know me from other posts such as this [Not Troy McClure though]:

    • Maybe, or maybe not….There does not seem to be that much interest in this system here on OzBargains. I guess the price puts it in the relm of a dedicated receiver and most would not count the speakers as adding much. Me I like the integrated nature of the system, the smart-hub etc.

      • I have the 5950w which is almost identical, bought from HT for 400.00.

The speakers are really good for surround sound, although for tv most stations dont have surround sound so there wont be any noise in the rears when watching normal tv except 10, 1 etc

The 3d player workds fine for blu-ray and usb media.

Smart hub and online content is woefull and if you are buying it thinking it will add a lot to your entertainment it wont, i dont use it. Its the previous gen on mine, think its same on the model listed maybe i am wrong. Most apps only support the newer version of samsung smart hub etc

  • To make it region free for DVD's (at least) do the following (modified via bluemetal77 @ whirlpool forums). Note it takes quite a few goes to get the timing right. Also note the '[Repeat]' refers to the grey repeat button below the '9' button. Also you can just cycle through steps C to 2. till you see the '4' come up:

    A. Turn on the home theatre system
    B. Make sure there are no disks in the system
    C. Goto the DVD source (by pressing the Function/TV Source button on your remote {top right corner})
    D. As soon as you see the screen say "No disk", perform the following:

    1. Push [Repeat]
    2. Push 7 6 8 8 4 (this is all in 1-go: Repeat>7>6>8>8>4)
    3. Wait 2 Secs – up comes [4] in top left corner of TV.
    4. Push 9
    5. Wait 1 Sec, up comes a [9] in top left corner of TV.
    6. Power off Home Theatre and Power back on

Your DVD player of the Home Theatre System is now region free ..

    Now to check..
    1. Power on Home Theatre
    2. Push [Repeat]
    3. Push 7 6 8 8 4
    4. Up comes a [9] as the region.
    5. Power off again then on.
