Arctic P12 Fans Are Horrible?

So seeing the arctic P12 fans posted here everyday i decided to jump on them and buy a few. I had seen reviews that say the engine made a small noise at certain rpm's but didn't think much of it. Fast forward getting them the whirring noise they make is mega obnoxious, way worse than the fan being louder.

You can't run them at PWM at all because when they go up/down they'll most likely pass an rpm they make that noise at. You have to run it at a static rpm and even when i thought i found one that sounded fine a day later it starts making the whirring sound and i have to change that rpm. All 4 fans have the same issue. Is anyone else not getting this? $10ea is cheap but they're driving me nuts.

You get what you pay for, i said they were sub par in one of the threads and got downvoted to oblivion. Sometimes people just cant accept what they dont want to.

    • Yeah not sure why everyone wants to love them so much when they're objectively bad, I've sat there trying to find a static rpm they don't whine at for hours now. They'll be ok for a while then do it suddenly.

      • is yours a rattle like this? https://youtu.be/xbm8t_PFvRs
Absolutely annoying as. I thought it was rubbing against wire but I've literally taken it out and same issue.

  • I got all these cooler master ones. Its called jet flo 120 there loud and fast but no whiney sounds. There quiet turned down low and arnt made anymore and was real popular I believe. Maybe loom at cooler master products. If it's air sound u hate then u have to go for the low rpm fans and usually the more u pay the better the fan. Don't go rgb and it will cost less. I have 2 newer cooler master rbg fans and there not as powerful as my jet flo ones but are pretty and I think quieter all round.

  • Also I thi k there performance fans u have that is what the P is for in p12. Buy a silent fan maybe from. Even there brand. They are supposably the best company even I heard when it comes to quality of the fan.

  • I have them and have had no issues, never heard any whining noise. The lian li fans which came with my case have a constant motor whine though.

  • No issues with mine. Have found that they have strong noise at 1000RPM and around. I set mine to 1200RPM and above and no issues at all.

  • It sounds like you might have gotten dud ones?
I’ve had no issues with my arctic fans, although i have the F12 (airflow optimised) instead

many fans have this issue when spinning at a certain RPM. Just PWM them around it. A video review i saw says he gets the hum at 1000rpm

  • i have a fan that's got this grinding noise at ~600rpm when its suppose to be dead silent, annoying as hell, needless to say it got replaced.

  • I also picked 5 of these up for my new build and am just experiencing it now. It's a pretty horrendous whine! Sounds worse than a dying old platter hard drive. Will have to modify the fan curves to skip that %age, which kinda defeats the purpose of PWM. Might keep an eye out for a sale on Noctua's and replace them all.

Have 2xP12s and 2xP14s, no issues. better than coolermasters MF120Rs

  • I only had 1 bad out of my 5, the 1 was visibly off balance and was rubbing. I could stand it up on the table and watch it walk away on full speed.

The other 4 are great. What you save on cost Artic seem to save on QC.
