[TAS] Free: CablePI Power Alarm (Detects Broken Neutrals) @ Tasnetwork

230

It's been years since this was last posted and a good opportunity for Tasmanian OzBargainers to order one for free if they don't have one already.

A CablePI can protect you and your home by detecting a potentially life-threatening electrical fault called a broken neutral. They're free for our residential and small business customers.

Oh yes TasNetworks are going to send everyone 4200 units from 2015 that were potentially faulty. You really have no choice in trusting them when they're the only energy provider (& government owned) in Tasmania.

And they recalled them promptly after being aware of the issue without any actual incidents occurring.

Can't say I have the same level of confidence in our electricity suppliers here in Victoria to have done the same (especially based on their track record of maintaining powerlines that contributed to the bushfires).

        • The only benefit you have is being able to price shop your energy. Here the only way you can save a bit is by going solar.

  • These things are handy. Had one alarm in an old rental property years ago and they came out and found there was some kind of fuse/breaker on the lead in power-line that was in need of replacing. It wasn't a dangerous fault but was likely to fail and leave us without power unexpectedly rather then getting a planned outage to have it fixed

    • That's a really good idea. I'll order one for my tenants

  • legend. thanks!
