Sounds like this is what the cleaners were using in Adelaides quarantine hotel…

    • SA health don't use QAC products in quarantine hotels. Maybe now they should look at upgrading? The SA outbreak did originate from a "hard surface"

    50 ml is tiny.

    • Thanks Yola. With up to 24 hours continuous protection, one "tiny" 50mL will actually last over 3 months. The skin protection is up to 1440 longer than a traditional alcohol with up to 1 minute flash kill.

Taken from the link "Did you know, Alcohol sanitiser will only protect you for 60 seconds..?! " I notice they are very carefull not to mention Covid19 anywhere in the link. This is just marketing taking advantage of the present situation with a product that is not suitable for it.. https://www.choice.com.au/health-and-body/beauty-and-persona…

Heres another article of "Choice" who tried to make a formal complaint to TGA and ACCC which was absolutely laughed at and dismissed due to the proven "science". If this was misleading and a risk to public health, TGA and ACCC would of definitely taken action in August. Choice are a privately owned company and can make any claim they want, but science always wins!

Need 60% alcohol to be effective for proper hand hygeine: https://www.tga.gov.au/hand-sanitisers-information-consumers

Not all hand sanitisers are the same. The effectiveness of an alcohol-based hand sanitiser depends on the amount of alcohol (e.g. ethanol or isopropyl alcohol) in the formulation. Look for a formulation of at least 60% alcohol in these products.

If you are buying a product that states it is using the World Health Organization (WHO) formula, it should have 80% ethanol or 75% isopropyl alcohol.

I would not be buying alcohol-free for any purpose ever.

Miss leading and dangerous to public health claiming people only have to use hand sanitizer once every 24hrs. No study or proof of claims just fake award graphics.

    • Hi InternetSalmon, that is incorrect. We actually have test data to prove our hand sanitisers protect continuously for up to 24 hours. The Quarternary Polymer technology is completely different to alcohol based hand sanitisers which chemically poison Bacteria and only offer a 1 minute flash kill.

Our formulation has a silicon additive which allows the product to bond to skin and provide residual protection. Our similar formulation for our surface disinfectant actually continuously protects for up to 30 days on surfaces. Instead of chemically poisoning Bacteria the easiest way to explain our protection is the protective shield bonds to surfaces and orientates microscopic invisible pins that bond and actually Pop Bacteria on contact.

We understand the technology is new and super innovative so please feel free to check our the how it works page of our website if you would like further info.

      • Is quarternary ammonium compound sanitizer without added 70% Alcohol or HCl a safe disinfectant against coronavirus? Yes or no?

        • TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) states Quaternary ammonium compounds are an effective disinfectant against COVID-19. See link below.

@ayersandco: the South Australian guidelines here contradict and say only when used with alcohol.

            Compound:
            Quarternary ammonium compounds
            Active at in-use concentrations?
            No

            https://www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/wps/wcm/connect/58acb674-262e…

Sorry this product is not for me as I don't feel comfortable that I'd be keeping my family safe. Maybe when the research is available on the website and online award claims affiliated with a credible source might reconsider.

            • +1

@InternetSalmon: TGA is the Therapeutic Goods Administration in Australia. TGA verify the science and approve products that are essentially effective for protection to the Australian consumer. Without thorough evidence and proven testing a product is effective and safe to use, TGA will not approve any products and will ultimately fine companies who are misleading or make claims that cannot be proven. SA Health are essentially in charge of anything used within the SA government and what is best used for SA. Maybe now SA health will update there recommendations due to the current outbreak that originated from a "hard surface", as whatever is being used now for protection within SA facilities is obviously not suitable for protection.

You can alternatively get the same product for $11.99 for a 50ml and pay shipping from these competitors. 50ml will last you over 3 months use. This deal has one day left.

    https://zoono.com/collections/personal/products/hand-sanitis… $11.99

    https://novalentshield.com.au/products/novalent-shield-antib… $11.99

In regards to the science, TGA has approved QAC's as a leading disinfection protection against COVID-19. You can see in link below.

    https://www.tga.gov.au/appropriate-use-disinfectants-informa….

In regards to the outbreak in Adelaide, if they used a protection that is bonded to the surface and is continuously protecting from microbes (like a QAC),
instead of a "flash kill" product like bleach to flash kill the microbe and give no further protection beyond this, who knows what would of happened.

Heres another article of "Choice" who tried to make a formal complaint to TGA and ACCC which was absolutely laughed at and dismissed due to the proven "science". How come you only refer to articles relating to disinfectant's not sanatisers to try and back your claim when this thread is about sanatiser? Can you please also inform us of the AUST R number on the label of this product..

  • +1

Hi Coin Saver, the TGA approved hand sanitiser registrations are for products designed as a therapeutic good, ie. claims against specific organisms or viruses. Our Hand Sanitisers aren't designed for therapeutic use and while we have test data (which we can share) which show's the residual efficacy of our hand sanitiser including for durations up to 24 hours against Bacteria, we make no claims against specific organisms for this reason.

This is also why 99% of the alcohol based hand sanitisers you use also have no TGA approval as they fall into the cosmetic category. We appreciate your right to an opinion on the products but please refrain from sharing misleading information without having the correct info to back up your claims.

We have a product which offers users prolonged skin protection without harsh and damaging alcoholic chemicals and feel strongly that Australian's should have the opportunity to understand and trial these products (for FREE) to see why this technology is rapidly becoming the leading surface and skin protection,

So you are saying that your product is only cosmetic? LOL I would suggest you read this https://www.tga.gov.au/hand-sanitisers-information-manufactu… How about trying to answer this question I asked earlier "How come you only refer to articles relating to disinfectant's not sanatisers to try and back your claim when this thread is about sanatiser?

      • +1

Thanks for your comments CoinSaver but I think you are struggling to understand the TGA's classifications for hand sanitisers. While we don't expect you to be a customer I am happy to explain it better for you to understand.

The TGA used to classify all hand sanitisers as therapeutic goods prior to Covid19. Due to the massive demand and urgency for hand sanitisers in Australia the TGA reclassified hand sanitisers as a cosmetic good - they simply wouldn't be able to have approved the amount of hand sanitisers required all as Therapeutic goods in time to supply Australia.

This means 99% of the products you see in store (and online) are also classed as a cosmetic good (which may shock you judging by the above contempt you have shown above).

Essentially unless the product has a specific claim against organisms (such as Ecoli and Covid19) and are to be used for Therapeutic reasons (such as in hospital's) then they are a cosmetic good and available to sell to public.

Our surface disinfectant technology (QAC) listed above is actually the same formula as our hand sanitiser (QAC). Our products have test data for both the hand sanitiser and surface disinfectant which proves our residual protection claims of up to 24 hours on skin and up to 30 days on surfaces. This is all while being non-toxic, non-flammable and without harsh and dangerous alcohols.

Our products aren't whipped up in a backyard or brewery and use the world's most advanced chemistry and formulations so this all may be a little difficult for you to understand.

Sorry I ran out of negative votes on another post.

          • +1

@coin saver: LOL why is that not surprising?

        • "In response to feedback and concerns raised with the TGA by members of the public, businesses and industry representatives, the Exclusion Determination was amended to clarify ingredient, labelling and presentation requirements. The amended Exclusion Determination took effect on 6 May 2020.

Under transition arrangements, the Exclusion Determination continues to apply until 30 June 2020. Products that comply with the previous Exclusion Determination can continue to be manufactured and supplied until this time.

Provided the exact formulation and all other requirements are complied with, the following products are covered by the Exclusion Determination and permitted for use in both health care settings and for personal consumer use:

          ethanol hand sanitisers
          isopropyl alcohol hand sanitisers.

The specified formulations are based on advice by the World Health Organization and similar decisions by the US Food and Drug Administration."
