Super Cheap Auto Brand Ridge Ryder Deluxe Gazebo Detail

The SCA gazebo is on sale. Looking get a 3x3 and have been tossing up between this and the OzTrail model (which has hydroflow). I've heard the frame construction is very similar, with different canopys (although OzTrail has the Hydroflow)

Leaning towards SCA because its a bit cheaper, but wanting to know if anyone owns one, and if it is cross compatible with OzTrail Accessories (I'd be wanting to put in an inner tent or mesh kit.

The kicker is that they set up by hooking onto the gazebo by hooks in the corners (4 hooks on the ground, 4 at the tops), as seen on this video https://youtu.be/s4Hq6579_-A

Anyone who owns either, feedback would be appreciated.

It seems like the Ridge Ryder don’t have the hooks… https://youtu.be/UjbPH4_HljI

Have you considered a gazebo pod tent? https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/oztrail-gazebo-pod-3-0… The gazebo can then stay as a living/eating area.

And to combat water pooling, we curl pool noodles under the canopy (in the corners).

    • Thanks for this. I have considered a pod tent if we ever need extra storage, although the plan isn't to use the gazebo as a tent but just as an enclosed living/eating area.

Do you own either of these gazebos? And for water pooling - are you referring to for the pod or just the gazebo in general?

I have the OzTrail gazebo (not the newest model) with 3 side walls and we use a separate Coleman tent.

For pooling, just the gazebo in general.

  • Which one did you end up choosing? I am looking at the same two, and am also considering getting the inner tent

Sorry @bobkin, haven't been on for a month. I ended up getting the Ridge Ryder but didnt get the inner tents as I wasn't sure of compatibility and thought we'd get away without it. They had a club special (3x3 + 1 wall for $150 or $160, I think $150)

I haven't tried the Oztrail, but if I had my time again I would probably go with them. The Ridge Ryder frame is well constructed, but the quality of the stitching on the Ridge Ryder canopy isn't great. I used it camping over New Years and it copped a lot of rain, the weight of which broke an Aldi gazebo our friends had. it did have pooling however so I'd probably lean to the OZtrail hydroflow.

Full disclosure, we had a couple gazebos together so the pooling may not be a totally fair assessment, but It seemed that after it had pooled a couple timed the slight extra stretching made it pool more consistently. In a more reasonable amount of rain I'm sure either would be fine. It had 40-50L on extra weight on it and held up so I can't complain too much.

All things considered I'm pretty happy with how it performed, but if the bit extra would have given better anti-pooling and guaranteed compatibility with the inner tent I'd go with the OZtrail.

      • Thank you, that was a very helpful reply!
