Motorola XOOM 10" 32GB MZ604 WiFi Tablet PCs - $347 AUD - DWI Digital Cameras - Free Shipping

400

As the title say, DWI are offering the 32GB version of the Xoom for $347.
I got myself one as I was watching this baby to come down in price (I believe there will be more price cut when the second version is out)

There is a coupon code (LIKEDWI) that is meant to give free priority shipping. It did not work for me and the problem also is that you have to go through the paypal checkout to see the total price of the purchase. Pretty dangerous if you are not happy with the price!

  • wow, beat kogan. tempted now

    • Beat Kogan even with the previous price. Kogan has a shipping rate that kills the deal (and puts the price of the tablet nearly the same as JB for example).

      K.

  • why the price is Total: $521.00 AUD when checkout?

    • They have automatic 3 years warranty on that drop dwon box. Just remove it.

  • Xoom or Transformer? Which is best?

    • +1

I read a bit about these 2 and I think the Xoom wins for me.
Apart from the weight and the display everything else is won by the transformer.

I have to say most of the comparison I have read are a bit biased. I have filtered through and I think it is a winner.

Also only for the same price the Xoom is the 32GB and not 16GB. Apparently the build quality is also far superior.

The bootloader can be unlocked now on the Xoom and I beleieve it is officially supported by CM7 (not %100 sure). With CM9 (ICS) being actively developed now you can expect to have ICS soon.

by the way, anyone knows how I can unsubscribe to this thread? I tried in the edit section but it is not working (no wonder I am answering that qucik!)

      • Cheers, seems that is the popular conception. I bought one, comes to $354 after 2% surcharge

        • Cannot edit my post above, just realised CM7 is not on the Xoom yet.

It does not change anything for me anyway as I was going to using with Official one anyway.

I'm running CM7 on my SGS2 and to be honest I'm not too impressed, I'll be running ICS on it ASAP. Same with this Xoom. I'm now searching for a case for it, Bluetooth keyboard case or leather portfolio style, decisions decisions.

        • I was about to do the same for the case and keyboard. Let me know which option you went with.

I'm gonna leave the bt case and get an acase portfolio. Great reviews on Amazon.

@BeAkEr - I tried many ROMS on my SGS2 (Litening, CM7, Villian, CheckROM) and I always go back to CRISKELO with Siyah Kernel. If you want your SGS2 to rock, go with CRISKELO - its awesome.

As for XOOM, I went with the Xoom instead of ASUS or Acer as the Xoom seem to have a much more active community (those that want to root and install custom ROMs). While I haven't explored a hack on them yet, they are working great and I have updated easily.

I would definitely recommend you purchase this swivel case/cover/stand - its fantastic :

        • Thanks, I'll take a look at that case but I'm pretty set on the AYL case. Seems that Amazon won't ship it but their is an identical one on eBay called Acase, must be a sister company as there are identical stylus' out there as well by both brands. Gonna pass on a keyboard in favour of a Kensington stylus, I hate finger marks all over the screen.
I'll take a look at that rom as well, CM7 is just not reliable enough though the last few builds have improved greatly.

      • i dont think all those reviews you read are biased.

        • Not sure why you said that? I read reviews from both sides praising both devices. They both have similar hardware really and for me the only 2 points left would be Build quality VS good display.

Apparently Asus also updates more their software. Also a guy at OW told me that he has a transformer and thinks the interface is really good.

Obviously the transformer did not get to this price yet. I missed the MLN special (which was really good with the keyboard) so this is the next one for me. I am sure by mid december this will become a pretty standard price.

      • Just had a look, I could only find it in Amazon US.
I did a simulation to see how much shipping would cost and it said it cannot be shipped to OZ.

Transformer wins because ASUS is top with updates, size + weight, processor is a draw.

      • +1

Yes, also in terms of selling volume for Android Tablets, ASUS Transformer is the highest.

If anyone in Melbourne is keen, I saw two new-in-box in the window display at Glenroy Cash Converters for $378 last weekend. As always, you can haggle. Might get a good price?

    • +1

huh what?? why would you want to get it from crime converter for more than a brand new one?? weird!!

      • It's brand-new-in box. And if you haggle, you might get it for less than this one here. Just saying for those who are living local.

I've had success getting cash connie to drop prices.

        • Cash Converters: Brand New in Box = Second Hand with Packaging + Free Spray of Nifty

    I'll give this a positive! Still…. the… price… needs…. to… drop…. just…. a….little….more….!!

another $48 less will equal iconia GG deals

  • Couldn't resist, bought one as a car movie player for the kids!

    • Does it ship with Android 3.1?

  • Good price wonder how long shipping will take .,. befor christmas?

    • i assume their shipping for tablets will be as fast as for cameras and lenses. if they use fedex as they do for cameras and lenses, just couple of days literally

      • Yes it's fedex, said 3-5 days

  • +1

No! I will wait for the iconia's to return to $250!!

PS. I think no one should get anything above 16GB if it has a sd card slot.

blah blah the in built memory is faster but when its going for $16 for a 16GB card I will go for that IF i really need the extra Geebeez

    • Better to have more on board space than less. Less isn't more!

    • +1

      Totally agree.
Have my Transformer 16gb and paid $50 for a 32gb class 10 sd card, ALOT cheaper than getting the 32gb version

      • -2

        32gb + 32gb has got to be better than 16gb + 32gb
I quite often run out of room on my SGS2 and that has 48gb all up.

  • Does it Have a GPS ?

    • Yes, with A-GPS support

    Deal has expired.

    • Thanks, not sure how I can set it as expired so I just changed the date to be in the past.

I got this price matched at JBHIFI this afternoon!

    • For real!?
      Could you post your receipt?

  • The code word LIKEDWI works. You just need to make sure you select the standard shipping at checkout and then apply the code.

  • Mine was dispatched yesterday via DHL.

    • Mine too, stuck now in Singapore. I am sure it will leave at night to arrive here tomorrow morning. I wonder if it will arrive in Sydney or Brisbane. I called DHL and they said Custom keeps them between 24 to 48 hours! I might not see the tablet this week :(

      • Mine is now cleared in Sydney :)

        • And now it's at home, wife has it. :)

        • Mine says out for delivery. Still waiting though and hopefully the driver will show up shortly.

I was thinking about getting a screen protector but apparently the Xoom already has the gorilla glass. I don't have a screen protector on my sgs1 and it is still going strong. I don't know why it was not advertised and the specs on most website (if not all) still don't show the gorilla glass (i.e. gsmarena)

          This is where I confirmed:

          http://www.corninggorillaglass.com/products-with-gorilla/mot…

I also saw something on the Motorola forums as well.

          K.

        • I bought the acase http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/330572533564?ssPageName=STRK:MEWN…
and also a Kensington Virtuoso stylus/pen as I intend to use this tablet for business and filling out quotation forms on google docs will probably be its main use when at work.

        • I want to buy a case for it but probably not shipped from ebay (will see anyway). I was going to the shops tonight and see what's on offer from there (probably more expensive but will have a look)

I am still waiting got delivery :(. Had to do things today and apparently DHL gave it to Courriers Please as they don't service my area!
