A friend of mine has recently file a claim for a faulty product and The Warranty Group compensate him with Dick Smith gift card last month. Is that even legal ? There is no way to use the gift card with all DS store closed down and no gift card for check out on website

You haven't exactly given us very much information to go by.

What is it? How much was it? Where did he buy it from? How old is it? Why isn't "your friend" dealing directly with the retailer he bought it from? Why does "your friend" have anything to do with whoever "The Warranty Group" is? Is it an extended warranty? What do the terms and conditions of whatever warranty "your friend" is claiming say? They can put anything in there as long as it doesn't override the statutory warranty.

  • dicksmith.com.au still exists. It's just a rebadged Kogan from memory. Maybe it's a giftcard for there?

  • hi i have the exact same problem they send me a giftcard from warrenty that is only instore with a number and a pin and i have tried contacting them and they keep on giving me the before may 2016 bullshit. have you resolved it and in anyway can help?

    • Nope, I reckon the warranty group doesn't care once they send out the nominated amount of gift card. They are not responsible if you are not able to deal with DS. These are just my opinion.
