Need Landcruiser Steering Wheel Re-Trimmed

Have a 100 series Landcruiser that needs the steering wheel to retrim.

Asking around locally trimmer wants $850, some want $450, I cant seem to find lower than this.

Has anyone done their steering wheels in Melbourne's north for less?

I know someone in Adelaide is doing them for $220 but I need to dismantle the wheel and send them it.

Any other suggestions on re-trimming the wheel( i hate those thick covers from autobarn, supercheap)?

thanks

Mixo

Fake leather, but I had one for a year or two without issue. Not as bulky as those thick covers… Might be an option worth considering if you want to do it on the cheap

  • There was a place in Ringwood that does the patrol ones for one of the Patrol (Patrol a part maybe?) wreckers, was only couple of hunge…
But go price a new steering wheel… 400 is cheap compared :( Or head to wreckers…

edit: This was the place i got quote for my GU about 18mths ago.

  • I don't mind spending some money on it to look good, but I ain't spending 400+ dollars on it.

Trying to do it locally, but if all else fails it will go to Adelaide.

Those fake leather ones look tacky. Is there better versions of this? Going to keep this cruiser for a while, might as well do a good job on it.

I think new from Toyota your looking close to 2K. Haven't checked out wreckers yet.

    • Patrol cost price was 900…

      Try here https://partsouq.com/
I got some parts from there for the patrol for 1/10th local prices.

I believe a shabby steering wheel is also a defect :(

  • Partsouq what 1300 bucks before delivery..nah…

cheaper for me to go to Adelaide for a few days get it done and drive back..

    • Th GU one is down to <580 on there. still too much for me.

Years ago I laced a leather cover onto a steering wheel. Wasn’t difficult, just took it slow and steady and it worked it well. Wasn’t too thick either.
