  • Ive heard bad things about this from the reddit page.

      Me too, so i bought this for much cheaper and still good reviews

      • Does this fit the Elite Strap? Also would you recommend buying any accessories (e.g elite strap, battery) or just the Quest?

        • +1

          I would recommend getting a magnetic USB C cable. Probably consider the elite strap once you received and used the quest, the standard strap isn't all too bad.

          • @Noire: I've had a look and can't seem to find a braided, magnetic, 90 angled 3M+ USB-C to USB-C cable anywhere - I've looked on Amazon, eBay, even trawled through pages of Aliexpress and Banggood, but no luck. Even dropping to the basics - magnetic, C-C and 3+; I can't seem to find any. Happy to pay $30 for the cable and wait a few weeks for delivery, but it really seems like nobody is even making one! I guess it is pretty niche, but disappointing I don't have anyone to give my money to :( Do you have one you'd recommend?

        • Elite strap is a must - and yes it does fit
          Forget battery, it can hold it's own for enough of a time that you get your thrills and are done for day

          • @Headless: Could you elaborate on the necessity of the elite strap? Seen many people say it's meh (e.g 3 comments above) - but it's typically something I would've bought with the headset at the same time. How do you find the difference between the two?

            Also, on the battery - approx how long do you find it lasts? I've heard it's about ~2 hours - planning to spend pretty much a full day messing around with it with mates when it arrives, so what's the charge time like? I have a plethora of Ozb power banks but not sure any would be comfortable to hang off the back of the headset - is that really all that the elite strap with battery is?

            • @Zazer: Normally I’ve found 3-4 hours of battery on the Quest 2 but I’d say it depends on the game.

              If you can play more than 3-4 hours without needing a break long enough to charge it you have better “VR legs” than most of us out there

              • @[Deactivated]: Oh sweet! That sounds much better than the 2 I remembered. As I said - planning to spend a day with it with a few mates, so it'd probably be an hour on, a couple of hours off while we rotate probably.

                Any thoughts on the usefulness of the battery strap/charging times in that case?

                • @Zazer: If you need it get it, the strap is more comfortable apparently.
                  That being said the standard strap is fine and you can charge it between plays anyway, either on the wall or with a power bank.

            • @Zazer: Yes, 3-4 hours with the current battery

              Last night I was sitting playing chess with someone from Vietnam (9pm), and it was getting low, so i plugged a 2 meter cable into a OzB powerbank and it kept it going until ~1am, when I got too tired to continue rather than the device powering down.

              So for me, just plug it in to a portable powerbank on the floor etc (standing might be more difficult, butnot impossible (could always tuck it into your pants etc - the battery…) - not worth the extra battery

              I kept getting a sore forehead from the weight of the device pushing down with the included strap, with the elite strap that weight has effectivly gone.
              I can also move it left and right without as much wiggle.

              Battery = No
              Strap = Yes

              Elite Strap with Battery = if you have the cash sure, otherwise standard Elite strap is perfectly fineand use one of your plethora of power banks instead

    • headset or the case - link?

      Have a pre order wait at Amazon for the case a head strap / battery combo.

      • Case. Trying to find it but it might have gotten deleted. The zipper was stuck and broke.

        • Oh OK, thanks, thought it might have been critical like not hold parts and them getting loose and scratching the lenses.

          • @Elijha: I mean, its not a big failure like the strap cracking. That issue is everywhere.

            • @ATangk: Oh man between your two comments and the 'lense' issue I fond when I went looking I feel like theres so much wrong… hopefully its just signal to noise.

    $65/$79 for a carry case. What a joke.

    I put mine in a $4 sealed tub from Officeworks.

  • +2

    Frugal tip: the box for the elite strap fits the headset and controllers perfectly - a perfect travel case IMO!

  • I know its expensive for a case, but its pretty darn good - the controllers slip in a bunch of ways so you don't have to micromanage your cable management. The zip is pretty quick. It's designed so its quick to pack and unpack.

    • It looked like it was a perfect fit and provides good impact protection.. so worth it
