Anaconda Raised Their Prices during Sale - but Still Marking Items As "on Sale"

So I was looking at getting a new camping stove - and one of the ones I was interested in was the Coleman Eventemp 3 Burner Stove. On Friday Anaconda had this listed at $199.

Now, they have a "Black Friday Sale" and the stove is marked as "On Sale" but the price has increased by $30 to $229. Regular price pretty much everywhere else is $199 as well.

How are they constantly allowed to get away with crap like this?

  • Regular price pretty much everywhere else is $199 as well.

Regular price/RRP is the same in other stores, $199 is other stores sale price, not regular price. Unless other stores are misleading customers with fake RRP savings.

    • I'm not talking about RRP.

I'm talking about the fact that before they started their "sale" the price was $30 less. $199 has been their regular price for a while, and the day their "sale" starts the price went up $30 to $229.

      • Cache, waybackmachine plus other stores suggest that $199 is not the regular price. Keep in mind that their catalogue ended on the 20th Friday, so you'll probably find that's not the only thing that went up or down in price.

Waybackmachine shows it was saved once on 29.09.20 @ $229.

Google Cache shows it at $199.

The fact is, that yesterday, there was no sale advertised. **The price wasn't marked as a sale price and was $199. Today there is a sale, they've marked the item as "On Sale" and they've jacked the price up by $30.

This stove is commonly found elsewhere at competing retailers for $199. No one has ever sold this stove at RRP.

I'm not sure why you're trying to defend a store that is clearly jacking their prices and misleading consumers with "sales" - who also have a reputation for doing so.

          • @Harold Halfprice:

Google Cache shows it at $199.

            Yes, at club price.

No one has ever sold this stove at RRP.

Perhaps you should also report the other stores for misleading consumers with fake RRP savings.

People here often complain about price jacking, when they don't consider the fact that a sale/catalogue may have just ended. Have you reported them?

            • @Ughhh:

when they don't consider the fact that a sale/catalogue

There was no sale or catalogue advertised. Now there is, and the price is higher.

It's not a sale if the price is higher than it was without a sale.

Why are you wasting your time arguing that they didn't jack their price, when they clearly did. It's like you feel personally offended and feel the need to defend their shtty practice.

  • Anaconda is much like Kathmandu, don't buy anything unless it's at least 40% off their inflated prices.

Went into one of their new stores today. Jack has been busy with their prices!!!
Their bikes would make great anchors.

Their prices are super frustrating. A lot of their “sale” prices are the same or above the club pricing, when it’s free to join the club. so freaking frustrating

  • Sale price will always be against RRP regardless of what they priced it before.

  • Does anyone know when the “sale” ends? Something I want is $30 off but I’m not ready to buy yet.

    • I price matched the stove I wanted and they beat by 10%.

Can you find your item cheaper elsewhere? Snowys, wildearth or tentworld maybe? They all have physical stores so eligible for price match

      • It’s the bestaway 8ft pool. Target has it cheaper but none in stock and they couldn’t tell me if they would be getting more or not. Everywhere else was more expensive.

      • Do you know what the conditions are for that price beat? My daughter wants a particular pink fishing rod, Anaconda had it for $19.95 last week, but now it’s “on sale” for $20.95. They reckon RRP is $29.95, but Big W in the same centre has it for $15 normal price. They wouldn’t price match because Big W only had it in stock in blue, not pink and the model number is different by one letter (presumably P for pink and B for blue).

        • I don't but they should be on their website.

I didn't think it needs the a store within the same centre or even local, just as long as it's not online only.

They didn't seem too phased when I got them to price match. They had a brief glance at my phone and that was it. Probably wouldn't have noticed even if it were out of stock
