Plush furniture, are prices set or will they budge when negotiating?

I'm in the market for a new leather lounge suite. Went into Nick Scali over the weekend (my last set from there has lasted for 10 years) and the guy was saying because of their current sale and the prices are already discounted, they can't move on the advertised price.

I've seen today that Plush have a buy one get one free sale, have you been able to negotiate a discount off their listed price?

Cheers

Nick Scali never negotiate. You'd be lucky to get free delivery even on any of their products.

Plush - slighly different story. From recent experience, 50% off or BOGOF is almost a normal sale for them. They sometimes have an additional 5% off. On top of that - they do negotiate slightly but again not a lot. If you have the Suncorp app - just check whether the 8% discounted gift cards are still available as that would be massive on the price of a couple of sofas.

Also - I'd be waiting for black Friday (this week) before going ahead on any purchase!

We bought from Plush during either a 50% off or a BOGOF (can't recall which now). We were able to round the bill down from about $3.2k to $3k even. That bill included delivery. I can't remember the exact discount as this was about six years ago. A couple of hundred at most though.

  • 50% seems stock standard - ask for a further 5% and delivery and stick to it. They will do it.

From experience pushing for discounts at these places are a struggle given their stock is 'unique' between stores.
Bought from Nic Scali a few months ago and they wouldn't even have a bar of haggling.

Plush were largely the same. Just need to wait for a sale, anything less than the sale price and they're pretty reluctant.
Having said that do shop around, i've seen plush sofas at other outlets such as harvey norman for ~50% less just called a different name and a slightly different fabric finish. Just once you've got the shape in mind hit up other places.

  • I think I got $5-600 off my couch from plush. Worst they can say is no.

  • They are flexible at Plush; bought a sofa recently, had a quote at the Richmond store, then went to DFO store and the guy offered the same sofa for about $200 less, including delivery and shield… I didn't ask for the discount, he said there was a deal week before and that he could still apply an extra discount, and delivery was free anyway. I could probably have paid a bit less, but it was already less than Richmond and Plush website.

Then I asked him if he would accept gift cards and he was happy with that, so I paid the deposit with a gift card I bought from redeemyourgiftcard.com.au (more info https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards ). I think it was 9% OFF, not sure right now.

I have already ordered a second gift card with the full amount which I will pay when the sofa is in Australia.

Nick Scali was working with reduced prices, including cheaper delivery than the usual fee, but wouldn't go any further.

  • Negotiate for that additional 5% Discount (which shouldnt be hard), Free Delivery and Pay with the Gift Card. (5-8% Discount?)

I asked for a free upgrade from normal to recliners which they are able to upgrade for half the price (couldnt get it free).

Give it a go - its doable, speak to the manager if the sales rep cannot make a decision.

This thread isn't that old but I'm wondering if Plush have made some changes. I've tried 2 stores and neither will budge on price, everything is linked to the website, when they give you a quote it's a link to a quote generated on their website and I've now been told by 2 stores they can't alter these prices. Also the ability to purchase discounted plush gift cards seems limited, the ones I can see on the discounted e giftcards wiki no longer have Plush gift cards, the gift cards only seem to be for in store payment as well and by their wording you can't pay off the remainder of the purchase with gift cards. Further more it seems since Jan 22 they now charge a 1% fee for credit card and paypal, this is unavoidable online as there is no other way to pay.

    • Yep Plush got bought out by Nick Scali since this thread was started and now appear to have adopted Nick Scali's position with regards to discounts.

  • Plush gift card disappeared from many gift card platform. Would be grateful to know where still can buy flush gift card.
