[Solved] Trouble Getting VoIP Going on TP-Link Router

hey guys,

I recently hooked up a tplink vn020 router. The internet works fine however i'm having trouble getting the phone going. Internode weren't much help. Basically just said to do what I'd already done then shrugged their shoulders when it still wasn't working. I did what tplink says:

I have dial tone but can't make it receive calls.

Any advice appreciated

  • Upload a screenshot and censor out private details.

    • That's a bit beyond my skillset. But the basic panel is below.

      SIP Account Basic Settings

Phone Number/User ID Used my area code and home number

Authentication ID Used my area code and home number

      Registar Address. sip.internode.on.net

      Password: my internode account password

Internode said it's all correct. :/

      • Are you sure your NodePhone password isn't different to your internode account password?

Also I assume you have put no spaces or brackets in ID's.

  • I had the same problem when I initially connected with Internode, eventually found out that the VoIP is only activated on one port, so do try the other port and see how it goes.

    • How do I change ports? (I'm a tech illiterate) lol are they the sip and outbound proxy ports that say 5060?

      • Try and change 5060 to 5070.

        • Ok, i tried that. hit save. restarted router. Status still says down

  • I did check the internal router settings for the voip, but what I meant was physically moving the RJ12 cable for the phone from one port to another (to the one closer to the power jack)

  • hey guys

    thanks for the help.

Solved the problem just messing around with it. Put all the settings back in again etc. I have a hunch the password may have had an error and because its all dots i probably didnt notice it.

    Anyway all working for now

    Cheers

  • internode seems poor service. i signed with tangerine and they were helpful. i chose to buy an aldi 1 year sim instead and it is cheaper than $10/mth min. which isps charge for voip.
