from what I've read, you're using the term favourite loosely…

I bought the brown switch model and have been very happy with the purchase.

@Rathnor: Red switch purchaser here, also very impressed for the price.

    • "ozbargans favourite non kettle related Kogan deal !"

Ozbargain likes cheap sh*t, and it's certainly both of those things

  • Bought this last time… used for about 5 mins before donating it to the kids and swapping back to the office Dell keyboard. Absolutely rubbish - i dont see the attraction. Just my 2c.

    • Probably the same rebranded garbage you can get on Aliexpress for probably less.

    • I'm curious what was crap about it?

      • Probably got a lemon. Only issue I've had with mine has been the cheap plastic leg stands breaking off which made me realise I don't really need them..

It doesn't feel that great to type on, it feels tacky, the keys all seem to be a different heights/angles, the LEDs die quickly, the legs are very weak (broke quicker than the LEDs), the lettering is tough to read…………

        • This. Felt cheap and flimsy. LEDs were dim and certainly didnt add to the looks. Thee only redeeming feature was the silver bevel around the edge of the keyboard but still instant buyer remorse.

It's worth noting that there is confusion over these keyboard models.

Kogan sells a Full RGB Keyboard (not this) and an RGB Keyboard (this). I'm not entirely sure on the differences (I only have the Full RGB one) but my understanding is the RGB/quality in general is worse somehow on the non-Full version.

FWIW I am happy with mine.

    • The "full" one costs $15 (50%) more and lists Outemu-branded switches. Outemu isn't as renowned as Cherry but is usually decent.

This… doesn't actually tell you what switch brand they use, at all. The known ones are Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Outemu, and a couple other niche ones that can be pretty good - but not listing any brand suggests they're a really poor off-brand.

    • I think the difference is that this one's RGB lights are static. Each line has its own color and you cant do anything about it.
The Full RGB one is fully customizable RGB keys.
If i knew this from the start i would have spent the extra $15 and got that one. Apart from that no complaints on the performance.

  • I bought mine earlier this year and have experienced some key presses (WASD) not registering whilst gaming. Very intermittent issue. I’ve raised with Kogan and they have asked for video evidence which is fair enough, but trying to record the keyboard and screen for an on and off problem is a challenge.

  • i get key issues with nearly all the kogan boards i've had (except the wireless one they don't sell any more). i'm typing on the RGB brown switch right now…got it back in July this year and it's still going strong. just have to press the right shift key at a different angle. i can live with that level of average quality for the price.

  • What happened to the wireless version?

    • dunno. they just stopped selling it. i bought one of the last ones for $29

      • These are great mechanical kb, I don't know what people are in about.

I bought both Kogan / Dick Smith keyboards (full RGB and RGB) with brown switches when they were on special a few months ago. I do work mostly with casual gaming. Wanted a keyboard with mechanical switches as I noticed with membrane switches some key presses did not always register reliably. Also RGB is handy when typing with the lights off. Wanted brown switches as didn't want it too noisy and wanted a definite bump so I know when a key has been pressed. Most of the mechanical keyboards were close to $100 starting price so had a punt with the RGB as it was about $38 plus postage (on special). Was happy with it so went for the full RGB when it was down to $35 (full RGB was actually cheaper than RGB. Depends on their stock levels I reckon).

I find both keyboards to be pretty similar. Both have full keyboard layout with full RGB having a slightly larger frame - may be a few extra mm on each side. The full RGB has keys that sound more clicky whereas the RGB sounds more springy but it is hard to tell the difference I reckon. I like them better than my old HP and Dell membrane ones :)

  • Does anyone know if Cherry keycaps fit this keyboard?
