Just purchased this, should have read the shipment date. I’m considering getting a refund/order cancellation now.

Kogan first? more like kogan last..

Expected dispatch date: 14 December 2020

    • I guess 3 weeks is fine if you're upgrading from an existing kettle, not so much if you don't have one.

      • just moved out, so i’ll have to deal with no kettle or cheapo kmart kettle for few weeks.

seems like they just did this so they know the exact amount to buy from the supplier, while getting as many Kogan First signees as they can.

Kogan branded stuff should be stocked locally imo, this gives a bad image to their brand as I always got my kogan parcels very quick within days.

    • Mine came up just now as 'DISPATCHED ON 24 NOVEMBER' and I have a tracking number already.

Might have just been a placeholder initially?

      • Oh cool, I hope so. Just checked mine again and still says

        Transmitted to warehouse
        Expected dispatch date: 14th December

Hope they ship mine out as quickly as yours did. Is it through auspost? what does the tracking number start with? (I put in a parcel locker address maybe that's the reason why it's not shipped yet..)

          Yeah Australia post.

0009348 first 7 digits of the tracking.

        • Hey mate, thought I'd update and say that mine literally just arrived at my door today.

If you're still getting that late of a dispatch date you might need to contact them perhaps? That doesn't seem right.

@Stoibs: Cheers for the update. Mine just got dispatched today, quite strange. Tracking shows auspost received it this morning… not impressed but better than 14 dec :L

          • @Stoibs: What do you think by the way? used it for 2 days and I'm highly dissatisfied. Just asked for a full refund.

            1) cannot disable keep warm feature
            2) all plastic construction, product image is misleading, it's just aluminum sheets glued onto the outside.
            3) constant loud coil whine (even when it's not in operation!) this indicates they're using really cheap electrical (transformer) components

            • @jimaiwr: That doesn't bode well =(

Truth is I got this as a Christmas present for someone, and so haven't actually used it at all or even taken it out of the box.
I only watched a few youtube vids before buying and they all generally said it was decent..

Now I'm considering opening it up and giving it a bit of a test myself. Thanks for the heads up!

    Comes up as $79.99

    • Need to be a member of "Kogan First" to get it at $39.99.

  • Can it tell if there is enough water in the kettle before you remotely boil it.

    • Boil-dry protection automatically switches off when there is no water

So it won't tell you that there isn't enough water to make a cuppa, but it will prevent you dry boiling the kettle and burning your house down.

The price for this product is seriously all over the place, I bought it for $69 1 year ago then it doubled and now it has gone down by 75%

  • Guys fair warning, used this for a few days.. this kettle is trash:

    1) cannot disable keep warm feature, so constantly uses electricity to keep at 40-90c
    2) 99% plastic construction, product image is misleading - it's just aluminum sheets glued onto the outside.
    3) constant loud coil whine (even when it's not in operation!) this indicates they're using really cheap electrical (transformer) components

    • I've had this for a year and had none of these issues. It works perfectly.

      • it works, but it’s not a good product at all for it’s (discounted) price.

Would much rather a metal construction one from kmart for cheaper, or the xiaomi one on sale a week ago.

How did you turn off keep warm?
