Cheap prepaid sim with access only

Hello,

I am in the market for a mobile simcard. I just want it to be able to be able to accept calls and am not fussed about making outgoing calls.

What is the cheapest option on the market at the moment? I think the TPG $1 per month budget plan will win but it still involves a $20 "sim fee"

Any ideas?

Thanks!

  • How about Vodafone prepaid 365 day? $2 SIM and $20 recharge = $22. Beats your plan which costs $32.

    I'm sure there are others.

  • Crazy Johns had the free $2 sim a while ago, I activated it without recharging it and I can accept calls/sms. Not sure if they have a policy regarding whether they'll cancel the number if you dont recharge within X months though, anyone know?

  • Thanks for that Greenpossum. For some reason I wrongly thought the lowest 365 day recharge was $50.

    Any lower takers?

    • 45 days expiry though.

  • Virgin Mobile also has a long expiry, $15 lasts for 180 days (so $30 a year), not sure how much a sim is…they were selling them for about $2 at Dick Smith recently.

  • Thanks all. I think I will go with Virgin…unless I find something cheaper ;-)

    • As already mentioned by Greenpossum, the vodafone one is cheaper - $2 for the sim and 365 day expiry on a $20 top up. If it's topped up within the 365 day period, any remaining credit rolls over.
