    Its Thursday

  • +11

Yep wait for next black friday next year

  • +30

If they are selling so well, why would they have deals?

    • +4

Well put. Black Friday is not a charity event, so there is no need to discount your top selling item that is probably sold out until next March.

    • +1

Try telling that to people hoping for plate clearances on new cars ;)

  • +9

Even head of Sony has said its most likely mid next year before you will see stock on shelves in stores.
Also.. why would they discount something that has been out for 2-3 weeks.

    • More stock coming before end of year apparently: https://twitter.com/PlayStation/status/1331583421668319234

      • Thats US were they have only sold one wave of Stock.
they will be sold via pre order so wont be on "shelves" even Walmart has said no physical stock will be sold in stores prior to Janurary at this stage.

        In Aus,
everyone (except Target at this stage) has sold their second wave (december wave) so will be January for next wave

    Unbelievable!

  • +8

People are literally offering $1000+ on facebook groups I'm on to buy one. If demand is that high why on earth would they be discounting them? They need to catch up with all the people with pre-orders from before it was even released (which won't be until early next year) before they worry about Black Friday shoppers.

  • New pre-orders opened up on the 12th of November which have sold out until at least Xmas.
New stock isn't until 2021 at this stage.

  • +7

lol… new console, heavy consumer demand, preorder sales sold out moths ago, second wave of preorders sold out, no new stock due till next year some time…

WhY nO Ps5 fOr bLaCk fRiDaY SaLeZ? Jeez, I wonder why? Or did you mean for Black Friday sales in 2021??

    • +3

OP doesn't even mention anything about a deal. He's just asking that they couldn't even get stock for black friday? I thought at least we could have been seen another online order round but unfortunately not.

      • +1

They are literally sold out until at least well into the new year. Sony has said it. Every retailer has said it. It's on,all the gaming sites/blogs/streams/news. Just where were they going to pull these mysterious stock of consoles from?

How pissed would you be if you were in the second wave of PS5 consoles and told, late Dec, early Jan and then retailers pulled this shit and dumped a heap of consoles on the market for Black Friday sales?

        • +2

I think if they pulled out a new round of orders for black friday (with no discount, just the promise of a console) no one who already owns one would care.

          • @richadam:

no one who already owns one would care

Ahhh, no, but the people waiting for their consoles from a pre-order yet to be fulfilled would be super pissed…

            • +1

@pegaxs: I did say, new round of orders. Not here's some stock on our shelves…

      • -1

        Exactly!

      • By mentioning Black Friday I would assume he meant deals (as Black Friday is interpreted as sale time) and I think that's a fair assumption. If he's not after deals it doesn't matter whether it's Black Friday or the week after.

  • +2

The lack of supply is because they're priced to cheap. Sony could learn a thing or two from Apple about pricing. They could easy sell the same amount of units at 3x the current price.

    • +2

Let Microsoft win the console battle? Not a chance.

    • +2

You sell the consult cheap then you sell accessories and PS plus high ie additional controller 80-90$, annual PS plus sub 60-80

Every game made for the consult u get a %

      PSN store sales etc

The console doesnt make money in sales - kind of like the cinemas don't make money selling movie tickets…

Thus u pay 750 for the Ps5 but within the next 7 years (till Ps6) you have spend 1000s if not 10s of 1000s of on sony shit - it is the same with xbox

      • Apple have iPhone, apps, beats, watches, chargers, cables, etc. that are all part of their ecosystem and sold at a premium.

Sony should be looking at maximising their revenue. There is no shortage of people with money that will pay 3x the RRP.

        • +1

Apple have a unique product on a unique operating system - Sony do not

Although the Playstation has some exclusives - 95% of games are shared across PlayStation, Xbox and PC.

There is only one company that reps IOS - thus the product 'holds value' and can be a premium price.

If Asus tried to charge 3x for a laptop then its competitors it wouldn't work

          • i do agree with you in the sense is most markets the PS5 could charge a +1000$ and it would sell out but the biggest gaming market is the US and Playstation is trying to take away from xbox which is a local company.
    • Well yeah that, and the whole pandemic thing. That means manufacturing issues, warehousing/delivery delays as well as a lot of people forced at home = consoles are pretty popular right now.

      • Of course - i also think 'gaming PC' prices have generally become 'un-affordable' for the average person.

        • The original PS1 was roughly $530 adjusting for inflation. That's not too far from today's cost of a PS5…

          • @richadam: Yeah thats fair

if you want the equivalent power for a PC as a PS5 or a XbSX your looking a min of 2.5k if not 3k - on top of that you need to buy a decent gaming monitor 300-500$ and a gaming mouse and keyboard 100-300$

However many people will need to upgrade there tv with the next gen consoles but it isnt a 'must' but ideally you need HDMI 2.1

  • +2

Lmao the stupidity of OP to think a product that is essentially sold out for 4-5 months is going to go on sale is beyond me

If anything PS5 esp could charge more for the console and people would still pay it like they are doing on ebay

    • +6

OP doesn't even mention anything about a deal. He's just asking that they couldn't even get stock for black friday? I thought at least we could have been seen another online order round but unfortunately not.

      • Thanks, that’s exactly what I mean.

      • +1

assumptions were made even before reading properly, if op did not post I would have, all he asked was if there would be any STOCK not DEAL/SALE.

  • I expected a xbox bundle somewhere - Bundle up a few games, controller, accessories. Console Shipped Jan 2021. Id go for it.

  • There are almost no deals for PS4 console et alone PS5.
