  • Good price - this is normally north of $800.

  • These aren’t cheap but Magimix’s are great work horses.

  • We had one and got rid of it. The food bowl has a handle with a complicated safety lock that only engages when the lid and container are correctly aligned. That would be fine, but it's made from a hard, brittle plastic, and ours shattered. Replacements are around $160 IIRC. Now we have an el-cheapo from Kogan and I'm perfectly happy with it.

    • I had several Breville ones and, in the end, the locking mechanism refused to engage. You might have not had the Magimix aligned when you tried to force it. I’ve had mine more than ten years and haven’t had any issues. It gets a lot of use. I do agree I wouldn’t drop the bowls regularly, it is hard plastic.

    • The lock is relatively straightforward. You lock the handle in towards the front of the machine, and then the lid locks in with the chute also facing you. They're both safety mechanisms to prevent anyone from hurting themselves.

The accessories might become brittle if you put em in the dishwasher on a high heat setting, or lower shelf, but they're usually pretty durable - I've seen Magimix bowls bounce hitting the ground, never seen one shatter unless it was already in iffy condition.

Not denying your experience of course, but feel like it might be an outlier - I've dealt with them a lot and they're pretty robust, even the old 70's models.

Of course the main thing is that your Kogan one is doing what you need it to!

      • Yeah, I don’t put my magimix components, saucepans, Reidel glassware, good knives, etc in the dishwasher,
