My Xbox Series X Is Killed by Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War

So yeah, my 2-week old XSX is now officially killed by the cold war.

I think it's some part of the GPU that got electrified so when I'm playing basically any game now the screens just keeps flashing and tearing, weird light source in blue or green or red coming from everywhere.

I have filed an exchange claim and will send it out to Microsoft centre tomorrow. The lady on the phone told me it will normally take 10 days for the new one to be sent back to me.

Just want to warn you guys: NO, it is not normal if COD turned your XSX off. It's slowly killing it in the process. So the current solution is to play the X1 version and wait for an update from Activision.

Am I the only one that doesn't know what XSX, BO, CW is?

Godt, I hope that other people realize that its Activisions fault and not theirs, would hate to see them experiencing bad press.

Or it could just be that your XSX is faulty.

COD has crashed my Xbone X, causing it turn off, but what's happening to you just sounds like a DOA/faulty XSX. Hopefully you get a replacement within 10 days considering the stock limitations atm.

I doubt it was the game. The consoles operate within spec and no game can go outside that. It's more likely your console was just faulty.

    • That was exactly my thought too - just bad luck for getting a faulty console.

But this has happened to 3 people in my xsx COD group and for reference, there are only like 40 people in it and all of us pretty much only play this game since launch. So the odds are a bit too big.

And then someone sent me this article yesterday…which is too late for me.

Well, that's confirmed something I always suspected, CoD gave your console cancer…

  • Do you think you’ll actually be able to get one in 10 days? I wonder if Microsoft actually have replacement units

One good reason never to rush out and buy something straight up and untested.

    YMMV…

  • You get what you pay for ;P

    • Where was this when I bought the Ouya …

  • Pretty sure its the russians
