[NSW] 2 Floats $99 (Normally $159) @ Sydney Float Centre

130

2 floats for $99, normally $159 without a plan. You can share the floats so it's great for taking along a friend. This deal comes around occasionally.

They make plenty of hippy claims, and the the whole place has a bit of a zenny / retreaty type feel about it, which might appeal to some - but if it doesn't appeal to you, as it doesn't to me, the floating part is still great. Whenever I've done these I found it very relaxing and a good circuit breaker. Apart from the floating aspect, I must say I've never experienced total darkness outside of these float tanks - closed or open eyes register the same in the brain and I actually lose track of their state - and that alone is a great experience. Yeah, you could probably do it in a gaffa-taped up cardboard box with the help of a friend, but this is way more comfortable.

My own experience is that the floats are not just good while they last but they remain good anchors for reflection at a later time. (All without drugs!) I have actually studied on a past experience how relaxed I was leaving the float centre and how my cortisol levels lifted as I battled the fools other drivers on the road making my passage home less than ideal, having to remind myself at the end of the trip just how relaxed I was prior in order to return to a better state, and get the best value from the experience. Devout meditators will be rolling their eyes at me now… whatever.

Comes up as a Black Friday sale but I can't find any expiry info.

        No plan.

        • My bad. Was looking at prices instead of gift certificates.

  • I think everyone should try floating at least once. Yes it has a bit of a hippy vibe to it, but for brain related stuff - anything from head injuries, stress, trauma and anxiety or even just not enough relaxation, the idea of this kind of relaxtion kinda makes sense.

    • Yes the hippy stuff put me off at first. But TBH a lot of good stuff can be found in there.

Once you get past the skin-deep hippies, like a lot of that crap that started in the 60s that gave themselves that name and were all about counter-establishment but now are the establishment with their multiple mortgages(!!!), you find some gold.(My own avatar is a tribute to IMO one of the worlds best ever, real, hippies).
