Best Android Auto+Car Play Head Unit for ~ $600?

I have a sony XAV-AX5000 that has been having disconnect issues on android for two years. The Australian distributor has authorised jb hifi to do a refund as they have no firmware fix.

Any recommendations please on what to buy? It's not a flash car and only stock speakers, just use it for maps and music. Double dinn ok. Car play handy for resale.

    Seems decently reviewed, capacitive screen etc

    ooh the amp you can match with it is awesome, if you wanted to upgrade power to the system:
    Alpine KTA-450
    (look how it sits behind the head-unit)

      Nice. I was first looking at Pioneer but then moved to this Kenwood after reading that pioneer is more geared towards apple and kenwood to android. Not sure how much is in that but reviews on kenwood say it's much better os etc.

      I'll take a look at the alpine too, cheers.

      Got the kenwood 2050s. Seems pretty good. Sound is great, but volume slider is lower. What I mean is what was 30% on sony is 100% on kenwood but at 30% on sony was starting to distort but at 100% on kenwood is still good and as loud as I would really go.

      Has ISO connections so no need for an adaptor harness depending on car and self learning steering controls (except I could not get to work). I did notice a JVC came on sale after I bought this for 80$ cheaper, so wonder what it is like being same company.
