    • Ya beta dine buy it

    • I heard you can use it diluted if you get an eye infection*, but they have a pre-diluted version especially for that

      1) Go see your optometrist
      2) They will need to most likely prescribe Chlorsig

    • I am an optometrist and I heard you can use it in your eye too. You can, kinda… but one of the excipients of most of the betadine products is alcohol. A lot of it. It’ll debride your corneal epithelium (as well indeed killing whatever pathogen is infecting your eye).

Betadine products contain no alcohol. I am an optometrist too. In fact Betadine can be used as surgical site flush. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2386220/

Betadine can be used on the eye in the appropriate concentration. https://www.reviewofoptometry.com/article/whats-the-buzz-abo…
It is also sometimes used prior to anti-vegf injections.

        • Also used in liposuction clinics

@chrisie: In my final year optometry course I had a ruptured appendix and was rushed into surgery the surgeon told me he gave my inside a good flush with betadine and left some in as I had asked why my belly looked like I was 9 month pregnant. This was well over a decade ago now.

          • @chrisie: So many Great uses, especially for infections.

Always use as directed, but if not… with extreme care and diluted as azukay notes!

So many neggers with no sense of adveture. They don't like saving on a multiple use disinfectant, or mind paying top dollar for Dettol, despite it being the kind of chemical that eats your flesh away. They'll never be able to put that in their eye without seriously regretting it ;-)

        • Depends which product.

I was in a conference before and heard betadine sore throat gargle specifically mentioned to be diluted.

          https://www.nps.org.au/medicine-finder/betadine-sore-throat-…

          30.5% ethanol w/v.

The 100ml solution seems cheaper at Chemist warehouse
    https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/31055/betadine-antis…

    • The price must have changed recently.

I bought from Amazon because the betadine 100ml from CWH was more expensive (a few hours ago)

    • It's cheaper now at Amazon $14.21

  • I still have half a bottle of throat gargle left but expired for more than 3 years. Is that still OK to use?

    • +1

I've been using my expired bottle for the past three days and I'm typing just fine.
