Bunnings has dropped the price on the Philips Hue Garnea to $49.20 compete with Amazon ($49.30).
According to 3Camels, $49.30 was the cheapest these have been in the recent history on Amazon, making the Bunnings price a good deal.

Pretty expensive too. ok for a bedroom that has two down lights i guess. but an open plan living room with like 12 down lights, no thanks
Yeah, you are right. However, if people want to stick with the Hue ecosystem (ZigBee), then this may be the preferred option for down-lights. Likewise not everyone needs a super bright downlight for their particular scenario.

I knew I should have waited before stocking up..
I bought a lot of the Hue Aphelion 110mm with the same 600 lumen output for the whole house and it was a bit disappointing with the brightness. It performs OK but it would looks a bit dim when you try to read.
Does this need philips hue to work together?
at 600 lumen, they are not that bright.
Even The Atom WiZ Connected smart downlight has an output of 815 lumens and 10w
Also the Grid Connect variant state maximum 94 lumens/watt @ 10w = 940 lumen
edit, I want these due to having Hue Bridge and other Hue items, but 600 Lumen..
